As Daryl Hall and John Oates gear up for RCA/Legacy's release of 'Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Daryl Hall and John Oates' on October 13th, the duo is popping up everywhere with appearances on TV, in concert, in print and a very exciting debut on country radio.

*COUNTRY RADIO: Country sensation Jimmy Wayne just released a version of "Sara Smile" that is climbing up the Country Songs chart. Daryl and John, who appear on this chart for the first time in their career, recorded new background vocals for Wayne's cover. Hall explains, ""
Sara Smile" is a song that I wrote a long time ago, but it still has the same power that time has not altered. Its simple emotional message transcends all styles and formats. Jimmy's a great singer and does the song proud."

*TV: Daryl Hall and John Oates are lending their voices to the new Seth MacFarlane's animated series 'The Cleveland Show.' Acting as the title character's conscience, Daryl will play the angel and John will play the devil resting on Cleveland's shoulders. The show premiered this week and Daryl and John will appear in two episodes.

*BOOKS: Daryl Hall and John Oates share their inspiration and the stories behind two of their many hits - "She's Gone" and "Sara Smile" - in the upcoming book 'Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Story Behind the Song' (out Nov 10th).

*LIVE: Tickets for Daryl Hall and John Oates concert on 10.23 at the Philly Spectrum, one of the final musical performances at the legendary venue, sold out within minutes of the on sale.

Taking its title from one of their earliest singles, a song that has always summed up the duo's individual and collective philosophy of being true to themselves, 'Do What You Want, Be What You Are: The Music of Daryl Hall and John Oates' marks the first comprehensive multi-CD, multi-label deluxe box set compilation ever assembled from their entire career's work, four CDs containing 74 tracks (16 of them previously unreleased).

BEATLESTOCK – A Sing-A-Long Birthday Tribute to JOHN LENNON
featuring Larry Russell, Joe Pecorino, John Merjave, George Stass,
Tom DeVito, Roger Lipson and Bill Malchow
Produced by Peter Abraham Presents

NB:  Moved from 10/4 – All October 4 Tix Honored
Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 7:00pm

BEATLESTOCK is a seven member Beatles tribute band that doesn’t wear make-up or costumes. Instead, they focus on the singing, sound, and ‘feel’ of The Beatles records and performances. Beatlestock is led by it’s founder, Larry Russell, who launched Billy Joel’s solo career back in the early 70’s as his bass player. Larry toured with the Grammy Award winning musical, Godspell--racking up over 1000 performances. He has also toured with Elliott Murphy, The Mamas and the Papas, Gary US Bonds, Denny Laine (of Wings) and Mary Wilson (of The Supremes). Beatlestock is also very proud to now have in the band, Broadway’s ‘Beatlemania ‘original cast member Joe Pecorino, who sings amazingly like ‘Paul McCartney’, plays the keyboards, electric and acoustic guitars, exactly and accordingly to the Beatle’s records. We also feature lead guitarist/lead vocalist John Merjave, who performs at all the ‘Fest for Beatles Fans’ conventions. John is an amazing addition as well. And the fab-u-lous lead singer/guitarist George Stass (Larry’s V.P. of Beatlestock) covers all of the ‘John Lennon’ songs. George’s vocal is very naturally reminiscent of John Lennon’s. With Tom Devito on drums and Bill Malchow on keyboards, and a ‘percussionist du jour’, you won’t miss one Beatle song detail!

Halloween with THE MISFITS

Doors at 6:00pm, Show at 8:00pm
$26.50 adv, $30 at door
From its inception the Misfits music was primitive punk rock, harsh and to-the-point. Yet that aggression was complimented with a strong sense of melody inspired by the roots of rock and roll bred in the 1950's. What further separated the band from their hard-core peers of the 70's punk scene was their inspired fixation on horror movies. It was from that inspiration that they created an entire world out of a passion for the genre.  After a split with Danzig in the mid 1980's and a decade long legal battle, The Misfits were resurrected by founding member Jerry Only along with his younger brother and guitarist Doyle. 1997's "AMERICAN PSYCHO" reestablished them as one of the most aggressive outfits in music and spoke volumes about their influence on many of today's rock acts. From neo-punk bands Green Day, Rancid and Blink 182 to metal acts Metallica, Pantera and Slayer to hard rockers such as Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie, Guns n Roses (who covered the classic Misfits song "Attitude") and more recently Slipknot. The Misfits have inspired many musicians and much of the music people are watching on TV and hearing on the radio today.  One thing is certain, The Misfits are here to stay and once again everyday is Halloween.

We love seeing Robert Pattinson on the cover of magazines, especially when he looks dark and brooding. Here he is on the cover of a British Men's fashion magazine called An Other Man. Doesn't this pic remind you a bit of James Dean? We could be wrong, but it looks like RPATTZ is doing his best James Dean impression. What do you think?

The upcoming Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum’s All for the Hall Los Angeles fundraiser—set for Thursday, October 1, at Club Nokia in Los Angeles and which features a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see Vince Gill, Emmylou Harris, Dwight Yoakam, Melissa Etheridge and friends performing together—will be preceded the night before (Wednesday, September 30) by a special duet from Emmylou and Vince on NBC’s new primetime Jay Leno Show

All for the Hall Los Angeles will offer a rare opportunity to see these legendary singer-songwriters interact in a “guitar pull,” where they will accompany one another as they take turns swapping songs, stories and personal recollections.  The guitar pull originated in the homes of Nashville songwriters who gathered to try out new compositions for their peers.  Nashville’s most storied guitar pulls were hosted by Johnny and June Carter Cash.  The hallmarks of a great guitar pull are spontaneity and camaraderie.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) educational institution dedicated to saving America’s songs of home for the benefit of all mankind.  Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the Museum takes as its mission the preservation of country music and related vernacular music rooted in southern culture.  Through exhibits, publications and programs, the Museum teaches its audiences about the enduring beauty and cultural importance of country music.

The Museum launched All for the Hall, its’ first-ever non-bricks-and-mortar fundraising campaign, in 2005.  The campaign addresses the Museum’s need for long-term financial security and will provide a safety net for the institution and its work.  This is the third year the Museum has taken its annual-giving event on the road, hosting previous All for the Hall events in New York in 2007 and 2008.

Last year’s event at New York’s Nokia Theatre Times Square was hosted by Billy Bob Thornton and his band, the Boxmasters, and featured performances by Larry Campbell, Rodney Crowell, Jerry Douglas, Gill, Harris and Levon Helm.  The distinguished audience included journalists Tom Brokaw, John Siegenthaler Jr. and Hannah Storm, director Jonathan Demme and recording artist Chely Wright, among others.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers travel wide, paying their musical debts through song and showing just how confidently the band moves across genres and over time.

At fourteen years old, best friends Lips and Robb Reiner made a pact to rock together forever. Their band Anvil, hailed as the “demi-gods of Canadian metal,” influenced a musical generation including Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax.  Though Anvil never made it, they never stopped playing or believing. Following a calamitous European tour, Lips and Robb, now well into their fifties, set off to record their thirteenth album, “This is Thirteen,” in one last attempt to fulfill their boyhood dream.

The Resistance — the new album from British rock trio Muse — debuts at No. 1 on the Alternative, Rock, and Internet album charts, and No. 2 on the Overall Digital Album chart this week. In addition, Muse have scored their highest-ever U.S. debut on the Billboard album chart with the No. 3 bow of their fifth studio album, which sold 128,481 copies (the band’s best-ever sales week) in its first seven days of release and No.1 on the top 200 Canadian albums chart. Muse’s previous album, 2006’s goldBlack Holes and Revelations, peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard album chart.
The Resistance is also an international smash with 16 No. 1 debuts around the world, including Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, and the U.K., where the album sold close to 150,000 copies, making it the best-selling album by a UK artist this year.
The Resistance’s impressive chart debut is due in part to Muse’s stunning live appearance on the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13th where the British rock trio performed their No. 1 Alternative Rock radio hit “Uprising.” Another track from the album, “I Belong To You,” has been confirmed for inclusion on the upcoming soundtrack to the motion picture New Moon
The Resistance is, by and large, a fantastic record, culminating in a three-song suite that finds the group jumping from classical movements to guitar fretwork to sweeping, swaggering, operatic rock,” says, while the Guardian writes: “there's something unrepentant in The Resistance's insane ambitiousness that demands respect.”
The Resistance was produced by Muse and mixed by famed audio engineer Mark ‘Spike’ Stent. The band, which is vocalist/guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dom Howard, will be special guests at select shows for U2, including two shows at Giants Stadium in New York, on September 23rd and 24th. The band have been nominated for two Q awards, which will be handed out in London on October 26th.
For the last few years, Muse have played to sell-out crowds throughout the U.S., Asia, Australia, and Europe. In the U.S., the band, who hail from the tiny town of Teignmouth in Devon, England, performed at the Lollapalooza Festival, the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Las Vegas’s Vegoose Festival, and KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas and sold out New York City’s Madison Square Garden and The Forum in Los Angeles.
