BON JOVI'S "THE CIRCLE WORLD TOUR" ADDS THIRD SHOW AT NEW MEADOWLANDS STADIUM ON SATURDAY, MAY 29, 2010


Following their groundbreaking performance and tour announcement at the site of New Jersey's New Meadowlands Stadium last week, Bon Jovi has just added a third date on Saturday, May 29, 2010 to their series of inaugural concerts at the soon-to-be-opened venue.  The newly added concert, along with the previously announced New Meadowlands Stadium shows on May 26th & 27th, are part of Bon Jovi's "The Circle 2010-2011 World Tour, promoted by AEG Live.  The tour launches February 19th in Seattle, WA, and will feature 135 shows in 30 countries throughout much of the next two years.

THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON SOUNDTRACK RISES TO #1




“THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON—ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK” rises to #1 this week on the Billboard 200, its first full week in stores and online. Despite the soundtrack being released four days earlier than scheduled, it made an impressive debut last week at #2 on the chart after an abbreviated week at retail. This marks the first time ever that a soundtrack and its sequel have both reached the #1 spot on the Billboard 200. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON is slated to open in theatres nationwide on November 20th.
The musical companion to the highly anticipated second installment in Summit Entertainment’s film franchise features new tracks from some of modern music’s most gifted and admired artists, including Thom Yorke, Muse, The Killers, Bon Iver & St. Vincent, and Death Cab for Cutie, who contributed the album’s first single, “Meet Me On the Equinox.”  The track is currently #14 at Modern Rock radio.

NEW FILM EVERYBODY’S FINE TO FEATURE NEW PAUL MCCARTNEY SONG “(I WANT TO) COME HOME”




Paul McCartney has written an original song, (I Want To) Come Home," for the upcoming Miramax Films release Everybody’s Fine, starring Robert De Niro, Drew Barrymore, Kate Beckinsale and Sam Rockwell. 

After attending an early screening of the film, McCartney felt a deep connection to the material and began writing the song that very night.

Everybody's Fine, written and directed by Kirk Jones ("Waking Ned Devine"), is the story of  a widower (Robert De Niro) who embarks on an impromptu road trip to reconnect with each of his grown children only to discover that their lives are far from picture perfect.

Collaborating with composer Dario Marianelli on the orchestrations, McCartney has crafted an intimate song that compliments the themes of the film and serves as a final grace note to the moving story.

Reflecting on his reaction to the film, McCartney said, “I could definitely identify with Robert De Niro’s character because I have grown-up kids who have their own families.” 

Miramax Films will release Everybody's Fine in theaters nationwide on December 4.



Miley Cyrus' 'Party in the U.S.A.' #1 at Top 40



In a year of milestones for Miley Cyrus, the Hollywood Records superstar just reached another big one, having her first #1 hit single at Top 40 radio with "Party in the U.S.A." On October 26, the single hit the top spot, with nearly 11,000 spins, beating out
competing tracks by Beyonce and Lady GaGa. 

The single was culled from Miley's seven-song E.P. "The Time of Our Lives,"  released this fall exclusively at Wal-Mart stores. That E.P. followed her #1 2008 album,  "Breakout," her fourth straight chart-topping CD. Miley is currently on her 55-city 2009  North American "Wonder World" tour, and next will do the same overseas. Her fall 2009  U.K. tour sold out weeks in advance, the first time that has ever been done by a female artist
 touring Britain for the first time. 

UNIQUE ROLL-OUT FOR BRITNEY SPEARS NEW “3” VIDEO


Today marks the beginning of the 3-day countdown to the unique video premiere of Britney Spears’ current smash hit single, 3(← click on link to stream).  Spears has chosen twitter to launch her “3” video through a series of Twitter-based events, culminating in the “Premiere Tweet” this Friday, October 30th.


Each day leading up to the premiere Spears will release something special for fans: Today, 3 screen grabs (one every 3 hours) will be released via TwitPic on Britney’s Twitter.  On Thursday (tomorrow), every 3 five second video clips will be released every 3 hours on TwitVid and made available as downloads on Britney.com and BritneySpears.comThe five second clips will be released in non-consecutive order and fans will bechallenged to piece together the 3 clips to create the full 15 second teaser clip.

On Friday, Britney will Tweet the URL to the 3” video premiere at 10AM EST.

Spears has proven herself a pioneer in the online marketing forum. She was the first artist to hit the one million follower mark on twitter and remains # 2 overall with 3.6 million followers. In addition, Britney was the first artist to launch a line of virtual gifts with Facebook and currently has 2.4 million fans on her Facebook Page,



The “3” video was directed by Diane Martel,  the record-breaking song is from Britney Spears’ upcoming album The Singles Collection which hits stores on November 10th.  The Singles Collection contains 17 of Spears’ most popular songs. An ultimate fan box set will be released on November 24th and in addition to “3,” the set has 29 chart-topping songs, special packaging, remixes and a booklet with iconic images and fun facts about each track.

NORAH JONES - VH1 PRESENTS WORLD PREMIERE OF "CHASING PIRATES" VIDEO




VH1 will present the world premiere of the music video for Norah Jones’ “Chasing Pirates,” which debuts online at VH1.com today Tuesday, October 27, and will air on VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown at 9AM ET on Saturday, October 31. “Chasing Pirates” is the lead single from Jones’ highly anticipated upcoming album The Fall, which will be released by EMI’s Blue Note Records on November 17.

The video, which was shot in Jones’ hometown of New York City, was directed by Rich Lee, who has worked on the visual effects for all three of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Chasing Pirates,” which was featured on Rolling Stone’s “Hot List,” immediately announces a new direction for Jones. Entertainment Weekly wrote that “’Chasing Pirates’ is a bluesy surprise and welcome change of pace,” adding that “Jones’ voice remains as lovely as ever.”

"For this record, I just had a sound in my head," Jones says. "I wanted the grooves to be more present and heavy. And I also just wanted to do something different." That new sound began to present itself on one of the first songs Jones wrote for the project. "About a year ago, I did some demos in my home studio," she says. "I had some friends come in and we figured out a cool arrangement for 'Chasing Pirates,' with a cool drum part. It went somewhere I didn't expect it to go, and that became a direction to look in."

The Fall finds Jones experimenting with a new set of collaborators, including Jacquire King, a noted producer and engineer who has worked with Kings of Leon, Tom Waits, and Modest Mouse among others. Jones enlisted several songwriting collaborators, including Ryan Adams and Okkervil River’s Will Sheff, as well as her frequent partner Jesse Harris. King also helped Jones put together a new group of musicians to perform on the album, including drummers Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M.) and James Gadson (Bill Withers), keyboardist James Poyser (Erykah Badu, Al Green), and guitarists Marc Ribot (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello) and Smokey Hormel (Johnny Cash, Joe Strummer).

October 25, 2009 - Hollywood Records recording artists Miley Cyrus ("Hannah Montana"), Demi Lovato ("Sonny With A Chance") and Jesse McCartney (pictured below)  perform at the second annual charity benefit, Concert for Hope, presented by Staples, Inc., on Sunday, October 25. The event took place at the Nokia Theatre at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles and benefits lifesaving cancer research and treatment programs at City of Hope, one of the nation's leading cancer centers. See our earlier post about Miley's performance.

November 15 when the band makes a stop in Brooklyn at the 
Williamsburg Music Hall and then on November 16, embark as 
special guests on the Metric tour.

U2 DISAPPOINTED BY CURRENT RECORD SALES

Any band these days would love to sell a million records, but for U2, that high number is not enough. The multi-platinum rockers told the Associated Press that they're displeased with the sales of their latest album, 'No Line on the Horizon.' Recent U2 albums have been selling in the three to four million range, while 'No Line' has only broken the million mark.Bono and company see factors such as the lack of a hit song and the fickle public's need for a "diet of pop" are contributing to this so-called slump.

"We weren't really in that mindset," Bono said about the lack of a commercial hit from 'No Line.' "We felt that the album was a kind of an almost extinct species, and we should approach it in totality and create a mood and a feeling, and a beginning, middle and an end. And I suppose we've made a work that is a bit challenging." Read more>>

BOBBY LONG'S NEW YORK CITY SHOW



Contributor/friend Anne M. Raso just checked in to tell us that Bobby Long's show at New York's Bitter End last night was one of his best in the Big Apple yet and if you can, check out his show tonight at Arlene's Grocery 10/25. Bobby seems to be playing in town about once a month now and every show seems to be sold out. He is recording as we go to press (they can't announce what major label he will be on yet) and some of you might have caught him walking around the Fifth Avenue MAC store Saturday afternoon. 


   If you saw a tall, cute Brit with beard stubble seeming perplexed that the store is literally a glad bubble in the ground, that was Bobby! We noticed there were more guys it he audience than usual (usually it's 90 per cent female), which is a good sign. Apparently, a lot of female famines are turning their boyfriends on to Bobby's neo-folk/troubadour sound. I checked it with Bobby quickly after last night's performance at the Bitter End, got a quick peck on the cheek and a "thank you for coming" and wish I could make tonight's performance but can't. In case you die-hard Bobby Long fans are wondering why he was NOT signing CDs and shirts back at the merchandise stand at the Bitter End, it was because he had to race off to do a radio interview at 10PM. More Bobby news coming up next month, but for now here's a pic of Bobby and I taken about a month ago at Arlene's Grocery by his publicist (and my good friend) Sharon Weisz. (Get to Arlene's Grocery before 7 because all the spaces on the floor quickly fill up for Bobby's performances. ART OF REBELLION CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL NEW YORK CITY LAUNCH

ART OF REBELLION--the art show which brings together 10 iconic rock poster artists including Art Chantry,Brian EwingDerek HessDirty DonnyFrank KozikHarpoonJohn Van HamersveldLindsey KuhnTara McPherson and The Pizz-- enjoyed a successful launch this past weekend in New York City at la.venue in Chelsea.

Frank Kozik, John Van Hamersveld, Dirty Donny, The Pizz, Harpoon, Tara McPherson, Brian Ewing and Lindsey Kuhn were on hand greeting fans and discussing their artwork. Attendees were able to purchase signed poster artwork from the artists while enjoying music from DJs DJ &mall Change (Friday) and DJ Ody Roc (Saturday).


“What a night! I had just arrived back in the country, and if there is a better way to get back into the swing of NYC than to go to the Art of Rebellion opening, I don't know what it is,” said Tara McPherson. “Surrounded by great art and artists as well as amazing fans, it was such a fun event all based around the rock and roll vibe of Harley-Davidson motorcycles." “Art of Rebellion NYC was well-attended with lots of good stuff to look at--it offered something a little different,” said Frank Kozik. “We’re thrilled people are coming out to see these artists who embody the rebellious spirit we connect with,” said Susanne Dawursk, Harley-Davidson director of Outreach Marketing. “The Art Of Rebellion will be an on-going event supporting artists and the art community at large.”

For the ART OF REBELLION show, each artist painted one Harley-Davidson Iron 883TM fuel tank and sold signature rock art posters. The Iron 883--part of the Harley-Davidson’s Dark Custom family which fuses minimalist design with a vintage feel--evokes the adventurous spirit of the dawn of the 60’s motorcycle rebellion. A portion of the proceeds raised from all tank sales will be donated to the CUE Art Foundation. CUE Art Foundation is a 501(c) (3) non-profit forum for contemporary art that gives artists, students, scholars and art professionals resources at many stages of their careers and creative lives (http://www.cueartfoundation.org/).
