Will Culture Club Reunite in 2011?

(RTTNews) - Boy George claims that a Culture Clubreunion may be in the works to mark the band's 30th anniversary in 2011. The band originally broke up in 1986, but has since reunited on occasion.

"I think we could do a one-off gig or maybe a small tour," George said in an interview with the BBC. "It's our 30th anniversary next year so we may do something."

Boy George went on to explain that the potential reunion would be like the band's last reunion in 2002, which took place atLondon's Royal Albert Hall to mark the 20th anniversary of their first hit single.

"Last time we re-formed, there was a point to it," he said. "We'll see. It's all about my mood at the time."

George did state, however, that reunions could be tricky.

"Unfortunately, with all these reunions you get to a point where you start remembering why you left," he said.

CORPIONS NEW ALBUM “STING IN THE TAIL” ENTERS BILLBOARD TOP 200 CHART AT #23

Scorpions—one of the most successful rock bands in the world--have hit another career milestone. Their new and final album, STING IN THE TAIL, released March 23 via Universal Music Enterprises, entered the Billboard Top 200 charts at #23, marking the band’s highest chart debut in over 20 years. The album also landed at #6 on the Rock Albums chart.

Sting In the Tail features the anthemic single “Raised On Rock,” which is #2 on the Classic Rock Mediabase chart and adds to their remarkable list of hits including “Rock Your Like A Hurricane,” “Wind of Change” and “No One Like You”. The album is a true return to the classic and unmistakable hard rock sound that has allowed the band to remain an influential and powerful force in rock music throughout their career.
The Scorpions--KLAUS MEINE (vocals), MATTHIAS JABS (lead guitar), RUDOLF SCHENKER (guitar), JAMES KOTTAK (drums) and PAWEL MACIWODA (bass)--have also announced the dates for the North American leg of their “GET YOUR STING AND BLACKOUT” world tour in support of the new album. The German rockers will be celebrating 40+ years in music on this final outing--set to kick off June 18 in Holmdel, NJ--that will take them around the globe through 2012, with special guests supporting along the way, including Cinderella who will help jump-start the tour and heavy metal/hard rock band Dokken.
“The Scorpions is a live band,“ asserts MEINE. “Totally, 200%, this band was always about live concerts. We always wanted to go on stage and play in front of our fans. From the very beginning, from the smallest clubs to the biggest arenas and stadiums around the world, the passion to be a live band has never changed.” And when asked why the band decided to retire after all these years together, SCHENKER stated, “We want to celebrate [with] a big party around the world.  We've had a really great career, coming out from Germany and showing people that rock can come out of Germany. I think we started as a gang built by friendship and musicality, and going and showing that the Germans can rock" (LiveDaily; 1-28-10).
With over 30 North American shows planned, the two-month summer tour will take the band, known worldwide for their mega, arena hard rock and over 100 million records sold, to such cities as Baltimore, MD, Jones Beach, NY, Toronto and Milwaukee. As they make their way west, they’ll stop in Albuquerque before hitting the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles July 29. (See dates below with more to be announced)
The Scorpions have partnered with I Love All Access to offer a variety of VIP ticket packages, some of which include the chance to meet band members at their shows. For more details, go to www.iloveallaccess.com.

Playing Catch Up With Bobby Long

We caught up with our pal Bobby Long again when he recently played at one of regular New York venues, The Mercury Lounge, and we got to check out the soundcheck (always a treat) and learned that our boy will be moving Stateside but we are sworn not to tell where! He also is not allowed to 'fess up to what record label he has signed with but last summer, every label and their spinoffs sent an A&R guy to check Bobby out in a time when few artists are being signed (especially those of the acoustic variety). Bobby will no longer be 100 per cent acoustic as he has been setting up a band to play on the record (being recorded for the entire month of April) and will also be having several famous session players sit in. We think that this band might be going on tour with him as well come summer!
For the past two years, the 23-year-old "Man From Manchester" has been garnering attention and a growing following by having his song "Let Me Sign" performed by best mate Rob Pattinson on the soundtrack of Twilight, followed by Bobby putting his own music on the net (see http://www.myspace.com/musicbobbylong) and now every show he does seems to sell out! Just remember that you read about Bobby here first--and also in the pages of Teen Dream magazine! We love Bobby because he is super humble int he face of great acclaim--and the fact he has the flirtiest audience known to man. If you ever go and check out one of his shows, you will hear girls trying to pick him up between guitar cords (no joke) but he seems oblivious! We've all hear him tell the story about the girl who turned up naked in a dressing room recently--and we hear that he offered the fan his jacket! No old school Led Zeppelin style groupie hijinx for this gentleman! We are very sad that we could not stay for Bobby's show the last time we spoke to him but it was the night of the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Inductions and our fave freak Iggy Pop was getting inducted (not to mention our favorite harmonizing original British Invasion fellas, The Hollies, whose performance sounded like it was done circa 1965)! Stay tuned to this website for more on the "electrification" of Bobby Long--we think his  record is really going to be a groundbreaker! And we would just love to hear that R-Pattz might be coming into the studio for a background vocal or two! (We honestly do not know anything about this yet, we are just speculating--we know that they jam together in private!)--Anne M. Raso

The Chemical Brothers Set To Release New Album "FURTHER"

The Chemical Brothers are set to release their seventh studio album, Further, on June 8, 2010 on Freestyle Dust/ Astralwerks. This album is the band’s first to be released with corresponding films made specifically to match each of the 8 audio tracks. The films will be included on an iTunes LP and special edition DVD.
Nearly three years on from the release of their GRAMMY® Award winning and fifth consecutive UK Number 1 album We Are The NightFurther sees Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons explore the boundless possibilities of their sound. Taking a trip through four decades of electronic noise, Tom & Ed have taken the template set up with their occasional "Electronic Battle Weapon" releases and allowed them to mutate gloriously into an entire album. Voice samples and snatches of vocals are woven through tracks to create a record that ebbs and flows like one of the band’s legendary live sets. Here, West Coast power pop harmonies sit beside German Motorik rhythms while My Bloody Valentine-esque sonic manipulations plane across the top of early house basslines. Further is the culmination of nearly two decades of psychedelic exploration, an immersive collection that finds The Chemical Brothers at their least-restrained and most-melodic best.

As well as an eight-track album, Further is the band’s first proper partnership with long-time visuals collaborators Adam Smith and Marcus Lyall. Now a respected TV and film director, Adam – aka Flat Nose George - has been responsible for creating the visual backdrop for every Chemical Brothers gig since their live debut in 1994. Visuals for Further have been created to correspond with each track on the album and have been planned during the recording of the record.

The band will play four shows at London's Roundhouse in May. These will be the first opportunities for fans to see the band play the album with Smith and Lyall’s new films in sequence and in their entirety. The band will also play select festivals in Europe including Sonar Festival in Barcelona before coming to the US for summer dates including gigs at the Hollywood Bowl on August 29 and Electric Zoo at Randall's Island in New York City on September 4.

Linkin Park Releases 8-Bit Rebellion—Mobile Game

Two-time Grammy winning rock band LINKIN PARK have announced the upcoming release of “LINKIN PARK 8-BIT REBELLION!,” a groundbreaking game app for the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. The trailer for the game can be viewed here: http://linkinpark.com/video/linkin-park-8bit-rebellion. For more information (screen shots, overview, etc), click here http://www.botme.com/ref/linkinpark .

Production on “LINKIN PARK 8-BIT REBELLION!” began more than a year ago, when Linkin Park (vocalists Mike Shinoda and Chester Bennington, drummer Rob Bourdon, guitarist Brad Delson, DJ Joe Hahn and bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell) partnered with game developer Artificial Life, Inc. (NASDAQ OTCBB: ALIF) to create a heightened app experience for music fans and gamers alike. The result is the first-ever massively multi-player app to be designed around a music artist. The band (who appear as characters in the game) was intimately involved in every aspect of the game: storylines, gameplay, character design and music.

"It was a unique experience to work with Linkin Park to create one of the most innovative mobile gaming experiences to date," says Artificial Life CEO, Eberhard Schoneburg. "Our close co-operation with the band has led to a cool and fun game play, a great design and a groundbreaking app that pushes the limits of the iPhone gaming experience and sets new standards for music-based games. Throughout production the band worked closely with our designers, intimately contributing to the creative process for character designs, in-game artwork, mission structure and, of course, the music in the game! 8-Bit Rebellion helps fans get closer to the band by drawing them into the virtual world that they have helped to create as well as providing their global fan base with an exciting community experience. It's a must for all Linkin Park fans."

"The collaborative process with Artificial Life was exceptional," says Linkin Park vocalist Mike Shinoda, who worked with the game company to design the characters and score the game. "They were able to turn my sketches and our creative ideas into a living, breathing world that we think gamers will thoroughly enjoy. This game is not just made for Linkin Park fans--anyone will be able to play and enjoy 8-Bit Rebellion.’ My bandmates and I grew up playing games like ‘Metroid,’ ‘Donkey Kong,’ ‘Zelda,’ ‘Space Invaders,’ ‘Mega Man’ and ‘Rygar.’ We wanted this game to have the feel of a vintage game, and a big part of it was the music."

Unlike other apps offering simple rhythm games, “LINKIN PARK 8-BIT REBELLION!” plays like a full-on action-adventure game. Players must free Linkin Park’s idyllic 8-bit world from the clutches of the evil PixxelKorp, whose corrupt agents have stolen the band’s music. As members of the rebellion, players will take on missions that lead them through several unique districts in the game—each district is themed after a different band member. During their missions they will fight off the PixxelKorp forces, hunt down the lost tracks and save the band from pending disaster to become an 8-bit hero! Among its many highlights, the app features “Blackbirds,” an exclusive Linkin Park song that’s unlocked upon completion of the game. This is the first time an artist has released a brand-new song through a mobile game app.

Says Shinoda, “We really liked the song and thought this would be a unique way to give it to our fans.”

The game also features original and 8-bit interpretations of some of Linkin Park’s greatest hits, including “New Divide,” “One Step Closer,” “In The End,” “Crawling,” “QWERTY,” “Hands Held High,” “Faint,” and “No More Sorrow.” This marks the first time that Linkin Park’s music has been reinterpreted using old-school video game sounds. The game, which also includes original artwork by the band, opens with “One Step Closer” sounding like it was coming out of a first-generation NES.

New Ozzy Osbourne Song, "Let Me Hear You Scream," To Debut On "CSI: NY"

Ozzy Osbourne's new song, "Let Me Hear You Scream," from his upcoming Epic Records album,Scream, will have its world premiere during an episode of CSI: NY, to be broadcast Wednesday, April 14(10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

In the episode, "Redemptio," a death row inmate's (guest star Harold Perrineau, "Lost") final request brings Dr. Hawkes (series regular Hill Harper) to a Pennsylvania prison and face-to-face with a tragic incident that he has kept secret for many years, just as a prison riot erupts and traps Hawkes inside.  The story was written by executive producer Peter M. Lenkov, with the teleplay by Lenkov and Bill Haynes.

"We were looking for something high energy and irreverent to sell the madness of a prison riot," said executive producer and episode writer Peter M. Lenkov.  "We immediately responded to the new Osbourne tune.  The song exceeded our expectations and brought exactly the right tone to the episode."

"When I heard they were going to use 'Let Me Hear You Scream' for a prison riot scene, I thought, 'Well, now that's something I know about,'" says Ozzy, who spent time in prison in the U.K. for burglary before his 18th birthday.

Ozzy Osbourne's career has spanned four decades and his music is as relevant today as ever. The multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has sold over 100 million albums worldwide – 50 million with Black Sabbath and as many as a solo artist. In 2003, he was honored with a star on Hollywood Boulevard's "Walk of Fame."  Osbourne is not only a legend and an icon, but is a pioneer in his genre of music.

CSI: NY, a crime drama inspired by the drama series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," is about forensic investigators who use high-tech science to follow the evidence and solve crimes in the Big Apple.

Green Day Say New Album Is 'Back To The Basics'

Source MTV News
In the new issue of Kerrang magazine, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong got fans salivating when he let it slip that the band was already working on songs for the follow-up to 2009's 21st Century Breakdown.
"We did some demos in Berlin, some in Stockholm, some just outside of Glasgow and some in Amsterdam," Armstrong told the magazine. "We wanted to get [the songs] down in some early form."
From the sound of things, GD were looking to get something out sooner rather than later, a far cry from the two-plus years they spent working on Breakdown. And, naturally, we were excited by the news. So when we spoke to the guys at theBroadway premiere of their "American Idiot" musical, we asked them about the status of the new album — which, as they put it, is shaping up to be a "back-to-basics" sort of affair.
"It's just been songwriting right now. Instead of doing it later on, we decided to start doing stuff now. ... It's all back to the basics again. Just getting in a room together and start jamming," Armstrong said. "We set up all of our old gear, which was like an experiment. We set up all of our equipment from 1992, and we sat in a room. We got in, and I was like, 'Come on, guys, we're getting back in' and I [start playing] and go, 'This sounds like sh--*' Everything sounded so bad." Read more>>

Ricky Martin Comes Clean On Being Gay

According to USA TODAY, "After more than a decade of speculation, singer Ricky Martin is finally blowing the doors off the closet. He says that he is gay. Here is a portion of the statement he released on his website: "Many people told me: 'Ricky it's not important,' 'it's not worth it,' 'all the years you've worked and everything you've built will collapse,' 'many people in the world are not ready to accept your truth, your reality, your nature.' Because all this advice came from people who I love dearly, I decided to move on with my life not sharing with the world my entire truth. Allowing myself to be seduced by fear and insecurity became a self-fulfilling prophecy of sabotage. Today I take full responsibility for my decisions and my actions.... This is just what I need especially now that I am the father of two beautiful boys that are so full of light and who with their outlook teach me new things every day. To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where born with. Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment. These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed.... The word "happiness" takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution. I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man. I am very blessed to be who I am."
