Miley Cyrus Skips Out On College To Focus On Career

(RTT News)

Miley Cyrus has chosen to focus on her singing and acting career next year rather than going to college. In a recent radio interview, the pop star revealed her plans for her future, saying she would rather see where the limelight takes her.

She emphasized, however, that getting acollege education is not completely out of the question.

"I am a firm believer that you can go back [to college] at any age you want, because my grandma went back to college at 62-years-old," she told the radio show.

Meanwhile, the singer's new steamy video for "Can't Be Tamed" has received several negative reactions from people who think the Hannah Montana star is shedding her Disney Channel image too soon. Cyrus is clad in what Us Weekly has reported is a $25,000 corset, along with a spandex leotard and thigh-high boots.

Speaking out against the controversy, Cyrus, 17, maintains that the choices she has made to break away from her bubblegum image are just another phase of growing up.

"No one ever wants to see someone grow up," she said. "My song is clearly about breaking free and being out of a cage and being able to be truly who you are."

Cryus' third studio album Cant Be Tamed is slated to drop on June 22.

Sex and the City 2: The Best Kept Secret

When Big captures the heart of Carrie Bradshaw in a final scene of the highly-anticipated Sex and the City 2 film and presents the NYC diva with an eye-popping 5 carat black diamond ring and tells her "because you are not like anyone else," movie-goers reach for the tissues.  But, who could take their eyes off that rock?! The buzz is already swirling about the scene with what is arguably the most significant piece of jewelry in the movie's entirety: a 5 carat black diamond ring by designer Itay Malkin.

Itay Malkin is no stranger to the Sex and the City movie and its stars.  Sarah Jessica Parker wore the designer's pieces in the first film and countless other celebrities are fans.  During prep of SATC2, the search was on for black diamond rings. Itay Malkin submitted two rings anonymously and both Parker and writer/director, Michael Patrick King, chose one of Malkin's designs to be the "ever important ring" in the movie. His unique ring was chosen above twenty other leading name jewelry designers.
Malkin worked in collaboration with Sarah Jessica Parker and world-renown Costume Designer, Patricia Field, on the final design: the 5 carat black diamond ring set in 18 karat white gold surrounded by 80 round natural white pave diamonds equaling 0.35 carats.  The Itay Malkin ring is the only piece of jewelry that has been held to secrecy due to its importance in the plot.  It will truly be debuted for the first time on the big screen.
"It was an honor to have my design chosen for such an emotionally important scene," says Itay Malkin.
The fashion in SATC2 sets global trends, and for "Carrie-inspired" women around the world, the ring is quickly becoming a must-have.  Itay Malkin will identically produce the ring in a limited edition series retailing at $10,000 each stamped with the limited edition serial number and certificate.

The actress admits she's often confronted with giddy mums and dads and confused youngsters, who have just been told that the woman in front of t hem is the real Fiona.
She tells Wenn, "I've had parents come up and go, 'You know who this is ? This is Princess Fiona.' Kids are, like, literally crying with tears.
"I try to stop the moms before they tell them because, as a kid, you be lieve the characters you're watching and you fall in love with them and y ou want them to be real. You don't want to believe that there's a human b eing behind them.

The Harry Potter books and movies have been capturing the imagination of its followers for 10 years now and in November the end will become reality.
The latest installment of Harry Potter is in its final weeks of filming in London and the movie entitled, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will be actually divided into two movies. The first installment will come out in November of 2010 and the second will be released to theatres in July of 2011. The final filming will be the culmination of a 10-year relationship between actors and crew.
Producer David Heyman was quoted as saying, "We will finish in two weeks' time. It is a very strange feeling. We have been 10 years together."
Emma Watson, who plays Hermione was able to sum it up this way, "I feel like someone is dying. This kind of love and recognition is just incredible. It is also really emotional for me. I am proud."
The movie series has been such a success that Universal Studios in Orlando Florida recently opened a theme area dedicated to the movies and the famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Still, Watson has resounded herself to a quiet summer, as she has said she isn't planning on doing anything, just relaxing and enjoying the time.

Harry Potter has been part of the lives of both Watson and Radcliffe for half of their lives as both are 20 now and have grown up on the movie screen in front of the eyes of all of Harry's followers.

Sgt. Pepper Live' Featuring Cheap Trick at Paris Las Vegas Marks 43rd Anniversary of The Beatles' Groundbreaking Album

To paraphrase the iconic lyrics "Well it was forty-three years ago today / Sergeant Peppertaught a band to play…" as one of the most influential rock albums of all time, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, was released on June 2, 1967.  Given the anniversary date, it is fitting that power pop progenitors Cheap Trick will bring their own interpretation of "Sgt. Pepper Live" to Paris Las Vegas for a limited engagement beginning June 11.
A Bill Edwards Presents Inc. production, the show is Cheap Trick's live celebration of the iconic and beloved Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album.  Geoff Emerick, the renowned engineer of The Beatles' classic album, will supervise the audio production of "Sgt. Pepper Live."  Emmy-award winning production designer Rene Lagler designed the sets that are evocative of the vivid rock 'n' roll era of the 1960s and include a 60'-wide by 12'-high elevated orchestra stage and three turn-table entranceways.
"We have created an energetic and spectacular interpretation of an album that was absolutely groundbreaking when it was released 43 years ago," said producer Bill Edwards.  "These songs are known and loved by millions of people and Cheap Trick has captured the essence of 'Sgt. Pepper' in their unique style and recreated one of the most beloved and timeless musical works of modern times."
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was the eighth studio album released by The Beatles. It took them 129 days to record. The album incorporated musical genres of jazz, rock 'n' roll, western classical and traditional Indian music, including the sitar.  The Beatles never performed the album in its entirety due to the complex studio technology that was employed in the making of the album.
"Forty-three years ago today we released Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a very special and now iconic album. Ten days from today the album will come to life in its entirety as never before presented in 'Sgt. Pepper Live' at Paris Las Vegas," said Geoff Emerick, producer and engineer of The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and audio supervisor for "Sgt. Pepper Live." "I'm happy to be a part of this event and to revisit this celebrated music once again."
"Sgt. Pepper Live" allows Cheap Trick to incorporate their brand of power pop into the classic songs in a celebration of The Beatles' influential album. In addition to Cheap Trick, the show features an orchestra, an authentic Indian sitar band and a captivating experience of light and sound. Cheap Trick performs the entire album live as well as select Cheap Trick songs that lend themselves to orchestral arrangements.
Tickets to "Sgt. Pepper Live" featuring Cheap Trick are on sale now and may be purchased at the Paris Las Vegas box office or on-line at www.parislasvegas.com or www.sgtpepperlive.com or by calling 1.888.727.4758. Rolling Stone 500: Top Rolling Stones Songs

Second on Rolling Stone magazine's "500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list is the Rolling Stones with 14. These days the iconic band is fronted by founders Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and backed ably by - as Richards calls him, the "irreducible core" of the Stones - drummer Charlie Watts, and newest member (at 35 years), guitarist Ronnie Wood.

In the 1960s, the Stones were often the anti-Beatles, with even more raggedy hair, a slouchy, don't-give-a-crap demeanor and snarl in the music, notably in Jagger's singing (and on his face).

Happy Birthday, Wendy O. Williams - The Legend Would Have Been 61

Tomorrow, the legendary Wendy O. Williams (WOW) would have turned 61 years old, andAggronautix is celebrating her legacy. Anyone that pre-orders a Wendy O. "1982" Throbbleheadthrough the end of May has the chance to win a prize pack that includes a Plasmatics - Coup d'Etat: Revolutionary Rock 'N' Roll T-ShirtPlasmatics & Wendy O Williams - Beyond The Valley Of 1984 VINYL, and Wendy O. Williams & The Plasmatics - The DVD: 10 Years Of Revolutionary Rock & Roll.

So radical, so unique, innovative and ahead of her time was Wendy, that today, over 30 years after she first exploded onto the New York underground scene and over 20 years after she stopped performing, and over 10 years after her death, she still remains a threat to the poseurs, phonies, and hypocrites of the male-dominated cultural (and music) establishment and their service (hidden or not) to the hegemony of the power elite.

Known during her day as first the "Queen of Punk", "Queen of Shock Rock", and "Dominatrix of the Decibels," and later the "High Priestess of Metal". "Wendy O." (or "WOW") as she was typically called, first grabbed the public's attention as front person for the culture-shattering concept band Plasmatics, the counter-culture band of changing musicians created and put together around her by Yale MFA holding "anti-artist" Rod Swenson in 1977.

Both Williams and Swenson shared a revulsion for the banality, conformity of contemporary cultural consumerism and its consequences and were determined to launch a head on assault. Williams' fearless attitude and uncompromising tough agressive vocals, claiming territory previously reserved for males, even while giving the stiff middle finger to the establishment saw her get a Grammy Nomination as Best Female Rock Vocalist of the Year, while her jaw-dropping stage shows and political stance saw her banned in London, arrested multiple times and severely beaten by the police in Milwaukee, WI.

During her 10 year recording career she produced 8 studio albums, multiple EPs, each which still stands as a landmark in musical history. Her death-defying accompanying videos still stand unmatched today, as do her stage shows which saw her destroying icons of mass consumerism such as the sledgehammering of TVs and the blowing up of full size cars on stage as well as the chainsawing of guitars.
