First Britney Spears went all Matrixin her video for "Hold It Against Me." Then Lady Gaga gave birth to a new generation of Little Monsters in her "Born This Way" video. Now, Katy Perry has ventureed into the realm of sci-fi with her cinematic video, "E.T."

Kanye West guests on the spacey dance track, which Perry says is about "falling in love with a foreigner, like far away ... Not even in England." And the video brings that theme to life, as alien goddess Perry floats down from space in a search-and-rescue mission for her lost love.

A Clockwork Orange 40th Anniversary Blu-ray Debuts 5/31; Star Malcolm McDowell Feted Worldwide

Stanley Kubrick was one of the great filmmakers of our time and his profound influence on motion pictures continues to this day. His 1971 film, A Clockwork Orange, starring Malcolm McDowell, portrayed an oppressive lawless society where man was reduced to little more than a machine. The film introduced into popular culture the concept of “ultra-violence,” as singing, tap-dancing, derby-topped hooligan Alex (McDowell) has a “good time” – at the tragic expense of others. His journey from amoral punk to brainwashed proper citizen and back again forms the dynamic arc of Kubrick’s future-shock vision of Anthony Burgess’ novel.

This was a powerful film made by a director at the height of his artistry and its impact generated worldwide controversy. Forty years later, the world is a different place but the film’s power still entices, shocks and mesmerizes today.

On May 31, Warner Home Video will honor Kubrick and the film with A Clockwork Orange 40thAnniversary Edition on Blu-ray ($34.99 SRP). The two-disc release includes two newly-produced bonus features: Turning Like Clockwork, a 25-minute documentary about the film’s “ultra-violence” and its cultural impact, and a short documentary where Malcolm McDowell reminiscences on working closely with the legendary director. This two-disc edition will also contain the feature-length documentaries, Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures and O Lucky Malcolm! The 40th Anniversary Edition will be packaged in a 40-page Blu-ray book with rare photos and production notes.

McDowell’s Never Apologize will also be released on May 31 for the first time on DVD in the U.S.  This spirited documentary pays tribute to British director Lindsay Anderson, who directed the actor in his films If and O Lucky Man and is based on his entertaining London and Edinburgh one-man stage shows. The film weaves McDowell’s experience of working with Anderson as well as tales of Sir Alan Bates, Sir John Gielgud, Sir Laurence Olivier, Bette Davis, Princess Diana, John Ford and Lillian Gish. Never Apologize will sell for $19.97 SRP.

This will be a big year for Malcolm McDowell and A Clockwork Orange.  The prestigious Cannes Film Festival will launch the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the release of Stanley Kubrick’s masterpiece with a special screening of a digitally restored copy of the film, joined by McDowell, Kubrick’s widow Christiane and brother-in-law Jan Harlan, executive producer on several of Kubrick’s films. Anniversary screenings will continue with a special event May 25 at New York’s The Museum of Modern Art with McDowell participating in a panel discussion. In the early fall, Malcolm McDowell will be feted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences which will include a screening of A Clockwork Orange at AMPAS, Los Angeles.

McDowell stars in the upcoming film Vamps, directed by Amy Heckerlingopening later this year.  And Franklin & Bash, the new TNT comedy-drama TV series debuting this summer features McDowell as the head of a buttoned-down law firm joined by two young, fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants street lawyers who cause a seismic culture clash within the firm. He will alsobe featured in the upcoming film Silent Hill Revelation, the sequel to the 2006 hit Silent Hill.

The film chronicles the history of William and Kate -- from the moment they met at Scotland's prestigious University of St. Andrews, through the ups and downs of their nine-year courtship complicated by social and Royal Family pressures, and intense global media attention surrounding their storybook nuptials.

Miley Cyrus Slams Rebecca Black For Gaining Fame Through Youtube

Miley Cyrus is not a Rebecca Black fan. In a recent interview with Australia's Daily Telegraph, the 18-year-old slammed Black for becoming famous overnight for her Youtube music video ‘Friday.’

"It should be harder to be an artist. You shouldn't just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour,” said Cyrus, who shot to fame on the Disney show ‘Hannah Montana.’

Although ‘Friday’ gained attention for all the wrong reasons – the video has sparked numerous parodies and jokes, and recently beat Justin Bieber for the most dislikes for a Youtube video with more than 1.2 million thumbs down – Black is pushing her career forward with a follow up single called ‘LOL.’ The 13-year-old is apparently learning to ignore all the criticism that came with ‘Friday.’ She recently admitted she was hurt by all the negative comments.

"Those hurtful comments really shocked me," she told Good Morning America earlier this month. “At times, it feels like I'm being cyberbullied."

Black may not have Cyrus as a fan, but she has received support from other celebrities including Lady Gaga, Simon Cowell and Chris Brown.

Enrique Iglesias Reportedly Pulls Out of Britney Spears Tour

Enrique Iglesias has reportedly pulled out touring with Britney Spears this summer. Iglesias apparently pulled the plug Tuesday night just hours after the tour was announced by Spears during a pre-taped Good Morning America appearance.

A source close to Iglesias tells Us Weekly magazine the 35-year-old felt it was better for him to continue doing his sold out ‘Euphoria’ tour. "At the end of the day it was better for him to just continue his own tour,” the insider claims.

Spears, who released her seventh studio album ‘Femme Fatale’ this week, reportedly plans to continue with all 26 tour dates. The tour kicks off in Sacramento, California at the Power Balance Pavilion on June 17 and ends in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre on August 13. Tickets will be sold on and

Katy Perry's 'E.T.' Rockets To No. 1 On Hot 100

Photo: Courtesy of EMI
Katy Perry  has become part of an elite chart club in America after scoring her fourth number one single from the same album.

Teenage Dream becomes the first album in more than six years to yield four chart-topping songs on the Billboard Hot 100, as E.T. ends Lady Gaga's stranglehold on the top of the charts.

Teenage Dream, California Gurls and Firework have previously shot to the top of the countdown.
Usher is the only other artist this century to release four number ones from the same album, 2004's Confessions.

And Perry is the first female act to score the feat since Mariah Carey enjoyed four number ones from her eponymous debut in 1990 and 1991.

Teenage Dream becomes only the ninth album to feature four number ones.

Perry tells, "I am so thrilled that E.T. has landed at number one. I want to thank all the fans who contributed to this amazing feat and radio, which has been an essential part of my continued existence. I truly appreciate all the support of my creative twists and turns." The tune is expected to enjoy a long run at the top of the charts after Perry premieres the space-age video to accompany the song on U.S. news show Entertainment Tonight on Thursday March 31).

Meanwhile, Perry's pal Rihanna also climbs up a spot on the new chart - her S&M takes over at number two, and Cee Lo Green's F**k You (Forget You) jumps back up the chart to three.
Lady Gaga's Born This Way, which spent six weeks at number one, falls to number four and the Black Eyed Peas' Just Can't Get Enough rounds out the new top five.

He'll also appear on "The View" on April 6th. The shows will mark the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's first television appearances in more than 10 years.

NPR Music is giving fans an exclusive "First Listen" to How To Become Clairvoyant, streaming the album in its entirety for a week, beginning today. This Saturday, April 2nd, Robertson will be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame (CSHF). In June, Canada Post will issue a stamp with Robertson's likeness as part of its Canadian Recording Artists stamp series. He will guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" on April 6th and tape "World Café with David Dye" in May while at WXPN's Non-COMMvention.

How To Become Clairvoyant features Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Trent Reznor, Tom Morello and Robert Randolph along with vocalists Angela McCluskey, Rocco Deluca, Dana Glover and Taylor Goldsmith (Dawes). The collection was co-produced by Robertson and long-time collaborator Marius de Vries (Massive Attack, Björk, Rufus Wainwright).

"This soulful record is Robertson's best yet," observed Goldmine. "For all of the now-legendary songs that Robertson penned, he tended to shy away from writing about himself, which makes the revealing nature of his first album in more than ten years such a wonderful surprise," said Relix. "How To Become Clairvoyant finds Robertson tackling personal topics such as his breakup with The Band ('This Is Where I Get Off'), the guitarists who inspired his innovative sound ('Axman') and his early days backing Ronnie Hawkins ('When the Night Was Young')."

In addition to the CD, three special editions of How To Become Clairvoyant will be available. The deluxe edition, available exclusively at Best Buy for a month beginning April 5th, will include a second CD with demos of five of the album's tracks - "The Right Mistake," "He Don't Live Here No More," "Fear of Falling," "This Is Where I Get Off" and "Madame X" - and an outtake of "Houdini," a song that does not appear on the album. I couldn’t be more thankful to Nickelodeon for their recognition.”

Russell Brand's Rock of Ages Depend on Wife's Katy Perry's Schedule

Russell Brand has confirmed he's in talks to join the cast of upcoming movie musical Rock of Ages, but will only sign on if the filming schedule allows him enough time to spend with his wife Katy Perry.

The British funnyman was recently rumoured to be joining Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin and Mary J. Blige in the movie adaptation of the hit Broadway show.

Brand has now confirmed the story, but insists he will only commit to the role if he is allowed enough time off.

He tells Entertainment Weekly, "I have to make sure I see me wife (sic) enough, but if we can work out the schedule, then yeah, I want to do it. Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, rock music of the '80s - you can't go wrong. And I've already got the hair. I am way ahead of them on that account (sic)."

Robert Pattinson Doesn't Believe In Cheating

Robert Pattinson has "never understood" why men cheat on their wives and girlfriends. The 24-year-old actor - who is in a relationship with his 'Twilight' co-star Kristen Stewart - explained he had grown up believing people can be together for their whole lives, and thinks having to juggle various different women must be "like hell for a man".

He told Italy's Vanity Fair magazine: "There is one thing I've never understood, why people cheat. My parents met when my mom was 17 and my father 25, they are still together and seem very happy. I grew up believing that you can be together all of your life

"I understand the impulse, but not how you can maintain two relationships for long. And though I understand that cheating can happen to those who have children, because the stress can make people stray, I can't really understand how someone free of any commitment could possible choose to have four women at the same time. It must be like hell for a man."

The 'Water For Elephants' star recently admitted he has a "romantic soul" and could never have sex with someone he didn't love.

Robert said: "There is the idea of the saving love, I believe it. I'm not mushy but I have a romantic soul. Having grown up with two older sisters I have a deep respect for women. Sex and feeling for me go hand in hand.

"I'm not interested in casual relationships, I need to know people."

Kirstie Alley Unhappy With DWTS Performance

Kirstie Alley felt she was "mediocre" in last night's (28.03.11) 'Dancing with the Stars'.
The former 'Cheers' star and her professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy impressed judges with their quickstep - scoring a respectable 20 out of 30 - but Kirstie wasn't that pleased with their routine.
She said: "I feel mediocre. I'm telling you the truth. I know what steps I missed, I know what I screwed up on, so.that's all. I wasn't as tired as I was last week, the stamina's gone up a bit, but this dance is hard! Who the hell walks around like this? Nobody walks like this!"
Kirstie's score was added to last week's total, giving her 43 out of 60 and leaving her third in the leaderboard, behind original 'Karate Kid' Ralph Macchio and NFL star Hines Ward.
Former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson and partner Louis van Amstel scored 19 out of 30, taking their two-week total to 37 out of 60, and the blonde beauty is starting to feel more confident.
She said: "That made me feel really good, and I know they know how I feel, they know I'm just coming out here and being real. I'm not fake. I'm not coming out here with some big ego. And they know that. They know how to talk to me, and I appreciate that."

Stevie Nicks Will Never Be A Mother: "I Want To Have Complete Freedom

Rock legend Stevie Nicks has ruled out ever becoming a mother - because a baby would hamper her "complete freedom".

Nicks has been married once, to her longtime friend Kim Anderson, but they divorced in the 1980s after just months of marriage and the singer remains childless at the age of 62.

The Fleetwood Mac star's close friend Sheryl Crow became a parent at the age of 46 when she adopted son Wyatt in 2007 and she took on another son, Levi James, last year (10).

And Nicks is adamant that seeing her friend dealing withparenthood has just made her more determined not to havechildren of her own.

She tells Britain's Guardian Weekend magazine, "I want to have complete freedom. Sheryl does not have complete freedom now. She doesn't! But that's what she wanted. She wanted a baby. And I have a Yorkie Chinese crested dog. I'm happy with that."

Lady Gaga Receives Judy Garland's Ruby Slippers For Her Birthday HOLLYSCOOP EXCLUSIVE

Last night Lady Gaga worked on her 25th Birthday as she performed to a sold out crowd at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. But one things for sure--Gaga is no typical 25 year-old.

So what does someone like Lady Gaga want for her birthday? An island? A Ferrari? Some diamonds? How about a pair of ruby red slippers?

While on stage Gaga revealed that she had received a pair of Judy Garland's original ruby red slippers that was used in the film, "The Wizard of Oz."

“Little did they know that I have a real background with these shoes,” said Gaga.

Gaga confessed she's had her eyes on these slippers since the 8th grade when she tried to land the role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz school play. Unfortunately for Gaga, she lost the role to a bully that was a senior.

“I will never forget it because I wanted to be Dorothy so bad," said Gaga. "I was in 8th grade and she was a senior. I definitely deserved to get it, but I didn’t get it. I remember she would speak in the dressing room while she was getting ready, I was one of the people in the chorus, the worst role.

"She used to pour Coca Cola on her shoes to keep her from slipping on stage. She would pour Coca Cola on her shoes and look at me and say...”just in case I slip.”

An emotional Gaga went on to say, "On behalf of myself and all of those bullied around the world, now these fucking ruby slippers are mine.”

Right before Gaga went into singing her latest hit 'Born This Way' she said, "When you don’t feel like Dorothy today, maybe you feel like someone on the chorus or the Scare Crow or maybe you feel like the Tin Man or the Wicked Witch--just know you will have opportunities in your real life to change things and maybe someone, somebody will hand you a pair of ruby slippers."

It was definitely a emotional and memorable night for Lady Gaga. Over 20,000 of her little monsters sang Happy Birthday to her as a cake was brought up on stage. This brought Lady Gaga to tears as she hugged one of her backup dancers and cried.

What was the Queen of Pop's Birthday wish? HappiPublish Postness for all her fans.

As for the bully in Lady Gaga's school who played Dorothy, she is currently playing the role of the Wicked Witch. So fitting.

Elizabeth Taylor Buried Alongside Richard Burton Love Letter

Elizabeth Taylor was buried alongside her last ever love letter from Richard Burton.

The 79-year-old screen legend - who died of congestive heart failure last week - was reportedly laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles with the romantic note at her side after having kept the letter next to her for the past 27 years.

According to website MailOnline, the 'Cleopatra' actress - who was married to Richard twice - was granted her dying wish to be buried alongside the letter, which was penned by the actor prior to his sudden death in 1984 aged 58.

She reportedly told her biographers Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger: "In it he told me what he wanted. Home was where Elizabeth was, and he wanted to come home."

Meanwhile, the late star's collection of jewels - believed to be worth an estimated $150 million - are reportedly set to be auctioned at Christie's.

Peter Sedghi, president of Luxury Jewels of Beverly Hills, who worked with the late actress on her House of Taylor line, told People magazine: "She had the most amazing eye. When you would show her stones, she would tell you the origin, if it's good quality, bad quality, where it came from.

"She had a collection like I've never seen before, and she knew exactly what every one was - what the diamonds were, the quality. But it was more for her; it was the history behind it. A lot of them had sentimental value."

Mini-Review: Jeff Beck Rock 'N' Roll Party Honoring Les Paul

(Photos Courtesy Of Eagle Rock Entertainment.

By Anne M. Raso

We here at cannot resist when a legendary axeman organizes and performs at a tribute to one of his major musical influences--and as we discovered from watching this new DVD, "Les is more"! (We are sure Jeff Beck will agree with that statement.)

Beck put together an all-star cast including Gary U.S. Bonds and Brian Setzer last year for a show at NYC's nightspot Iridium on what would have been Les Paul's 95th birthday. The show covers the pre-rockabilly sounds from Les Paul's heydey (the legend played at Fat Tuesday's and then later the Irdium on Monday nights right up until his death)--and then rockabilly in its heydey. Pompadours abound on the performers, including on Darrel Higham, who puts his marko "Baby, Let's Play House," "Double Talkin' Baby," "Cruisin'," "Train Kept A Rollin'" (the only song from Beck's Yardbirds days), "Rocking Is Our Business," "The Girl Can't Help It," "Rock Around The Clock," and "Shake, Rattle & Roll."

Jeff Beck's regular "Gal Friday" Imelda May channels Mary Ford and actually outdoes her on vocals on "How High The Moon" and other Les Paul/Mary Ford hits, and that's not an easy task. The reverb on her vocals--not to mention her Mary Ford-style dress and hairstyle--gives all the tunes from back then a "genuine" feel.

Beck does not forget to include his favorite rock instrumentals of all time in his all-star set, either--you'd be hard-pressed to find more rockin' versions of the "Peter Gunn Theme" or "Apache."

Highlights of this uplifting and super-rockin' set--that could probably make the Grinch NOT want to steal Christmas--also includes some mellow moments such as "Walking In The Sand" and "I'm A fool To Care" (both with May on vocals).

The aforementioned "Shake, Rattle & Roll" is actually the grand finale from the Master Of The White Telecaster and friends. The Small Iridium club stage looks might crowded with Darrel Higham, Brian Setzer, Jason Rebello and Trombone Shorty helping out Mr. Beck--but the sound is monstrous. Don't think this is the end of this vast array of retro-rock hits though--there are five bonus clips that are well-worth watching! That list of clips includes an interview with Jeff Beck, a behind-the-scenes footage reel on the making of this Les Paul tribute show, "At Home With Jeff Beck And His Guitars," "Les Paul And His Little Black House" and even a performance of Les Paul and Jeff Beck doing "Rock 'N Roll Tonite."

Jeff Beck did this video out of his love and admiration for the late Les Paul, and we now hope he will actually return to the Iridium and do another tribute show to the inventor of the electric guitar (not to mention other types of music technology that is still used today). His shows at the Beacon Theater and other NYC area shows are sold out, but we're hoping to catch him on his Summer 2011 tour!

THEMACWIRE.COM RATING FOR JEFF BECK ROCK 'N' ROLL PARTY HONORING LES PAUL: 4 1/2 OUT OF FIVE GUITARS! (We normally rate reviews in stars but how could we resist using guitars when dealing with a master of the Telecaster? LOL!)

Spock's Ear To Be Auctioned

Star Trek fans
have the opportunity to get their hands on a piece of sci-fi history as a prosthetic ear worn by Leonard Nimoy as Spock goes under the hammer.

The veteran actor wore the distinctive pointed ear to play his most famous character in the 1979 film StarTrek: The Motion Picture.

The iconic memento has been carefully preserved for more than 30 years and is now set to be sold off at an auction of Hollywood memorabilia next month (Apr11).

Dan Levin, a spokesman for Premier Props, the company behind the sale, says, "This ear was kept by the prop master from the film. It was carefully wrapped up which is important because silicone latex can deteriorate.
