With the recent announcement by MTV that Katy Perryhad been nominated for nine 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, the most for any artist this year, the global pop superstar has also set a record, becoming the first artist in MTV history to be nominated for four separate videos in one year. Katy’s nominations include “Video of the Year” and “Best Female Video,” for her No. 1 smash “Firework,” “Best Pop Video” for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” and “Best Collaboration” for her No. 1 single “E.T.” featuring Kanye West — this year’s current top-selling digital song in the U.S.
Katy has been nominated for the following awards: Video of the Year and Best Female Video for “Firework,” Best Pop Video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” Best Cinematography for “Teenage Dream,” and Best Collaboration, Best Art Direction, Best Direction, Best Editing, and Best Special Effects for “E.T.” (featuring Kanye West). The 28 annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre Sunday, August 28.
