Simon Cowell Thanks Axed Us X Factor Trio

US 'X Factor' boss Simon Cowell has thanked judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul and host Steve Jones after they were axed from the show.
The show boss paid tribute to the trio after they were dropped from the series and wished them success in their careers - but he also announced plans to work with Paula on another project in the "near future".
The music mogul said in a statement: "I want to say a massive thank you to Paula, Nicole and Steve for being part of 'The X Factor' last year. We had a lot of fun making the show together and importantly, we found some real talent and stars.
"You do develop friendships with the people you work with and Paula, in particular, is a very close friend and I expect to be working with her on another project in the near future.
"I'm sure all three are going to have massive success in what they do next, but now is the time to thank them all for everything they did last year."
Following Simon's statement, Nicole took to her twitter account to confirm she will not be returning to the US version of the show and she now plans to create "great music" in 2012.
She tweeted: "I wanted to let you know directly from me that it's true I won't be returning to 'The X Factor'. Looking forward to an exciting year ahead and making great music and more! I'm grateful for the love you always give me."
Earlier today (31.01.12), Paula confirmed she is leaving the show and Steve Jones expressed his disappointment at being given the chop from the next series.
He wrote on twitter: "I wont be hosting next seasons X Factor which is a shame but I cant complain as I've had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show. (sic)"

Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger To Leave The X Factor With Steve Jones

Simon Cowell is reportedly making major changes to The X Factor. Reports indicate the former American Idol judge has decided to axe Paula Abdul along with Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones. Jones confirmed his departure from the show on Monday and a Fox spokesperson confirmed Scherzinger’s exit, but rumors about Abdul’s status as an X Factor judge have not been addressed.

Cowell invited Abdul to join the judge’s panel along with himself, Scherzinger and LA Reid after she left American Idol in 2009. "I missed her the second she left (Idol). Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain. I don't know what it is about her, but I've always clicked with her. You just have to get that chemistry, and she's right. I've never found anyone better than her,” he said at the time.

Neither Cowell nor Abdul has commented. The first season of The X Factor wrapped up last December with Melanie Amaro being declared the winner. The second season will premiere this fall.

The rumours soon reached Cher herself and the singer was so amused by the story, she even joked on the social networking site about writing a song called Rip for her new album.

“Well here I am Tweeting from the HereAfter! It’s very blue up here & thank God they gave me a view of the sea, palm trees and a Balinese house... Lovelies,” she said.

“I’m not going anywhere till i finish this fkng (sic) album! The only Rip I know how 2 (sic) do is ‘Rip it up! Kick a** and take no prisoners!... Just had great idea... I’m going to ask (my songwriter) to write a song 4 (sic) album!” she added.

Liam Neeson's 'The Grey' Howling Its Way To $18 Million Weekend

Liam Neeson's new thriller 'The Grey' is expected to comfortably win the box-office battle this weekend. The movie, which sees Neeson's character attempting to evade a pack of Alaskan wolves, took around $6.5 million on Friday and should have taken $18 million by Monday, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The early success of the movie appears to cement Neeson's unlikely new status as one of Hollywood's most bankable action stars. Recent turns in 'Taken' and 'Unknown' were both hugely popular with audiences, and 'The Grey' is likely to pick up where they left off. Elsewhere at this weekend's box office, Katherine Heigl stars in 'One for the Money', based on the detective novels of author Janet Evanovich. The actress plays the unemployed and newly divorced Stephanie Plum, who manages to land a job at her cousin's bail-bond business and is assigned the job of tracking down a local cop from her romantic past. After taking around $4.3 million on Friday, One for the Money is expected to take around $12 million this weekend to finish in second place. The weekend's third new movie, action-thriller Man on a Ledge, starring Sam Worthington, had an underwhelming Friday by taking just $2.5 million. The film is likely to gross around $6 million over the weekend.

Liam Neeson is currently filming a sequel to 'Taken', in which his character Bryan Mills is taken hostage by the father of a kidnapper he killed in the original movie.

Lindsay Lohan Sued For Hitting Woman With Her Car

Lindsay Lohan is being sued by a woman whom she allegedly hit with her car in 2010.

The actress was driving her Maserati in West Hollywood on September 1, 2010 when she hit Nubia Del Carmen Preza as Preza was crossing an intersection on foot, according to the lawsuit, which claims that Preza suffered "disabling and serious personal injuries, pain, suffering and anguish."

Lohan's spokesman Steve Honig dismissed the claim, noting that neither Lohan nor her lawyers had been served with the lawsuit, in which Preza and her attorneys are seeking damages for all her medical expenses and lost time at work.

Earlier this month, Lohan was sued for allegedly striking paparazzo Grigor Balyan with her car when he was trying to shoot pictures of her. She is currently on probation for a 2007 drunk driving case.

Iggy Pop Is Record Store Day 2012 Ambassador

Iggy Pop will be the Record Store Day 2012 ambassador.

The punk rocker said of the honor: "As Record Store Day Ambassador for 2012 I feel like a representative from some exotic jungle full of life and death and sex and anger, called upon to wear a leopard skin and translate joy to the world of the dead."

He added that record stores formed his musical career: "I got my name, my musical education and my personality all from working at a record store during my tender years. Small indie shops have always been a mix of theatre and laboratory. [. . .] Clerks in these places became managers, (like Brian Epstein), label heads, (Jac Holzman) and faces on album covers (like me)."

Record Store Day takes place every year on April 21 and features exclusive releases and special shows to celebrate independent record shops.

Katy Perry To Host The Grand Opening Of 1 Oak At The Mirage In Las Vegas

Katy Perry will be hosting the 1 Oak At The Mirage grand opening in Las Vegas on January 27.

Proceeds from the event benefit the charity's efforts to provide temporary housing solutions and sanitation systems in earthquake-stricken Haiti.

The opening marks Perry's first appearance since announcing her split from British comedian Russell Brand, after which she pulled out of her appearance at the People's Choice Awards earlier this month. A source near Perry told Celebuzz.com: "This event was in the works before the divorce, but she wouldn't miss this one."

Added Eli Pacino, managing partner of 1 Oak: "Markus Molinari & Katy Perry are best friends, coming together to bring awareness to an amazing cause GiveLove.org."

Brad Pitt Says He Wants to Marry Angelina Jolie

Brad Pitt admitted he wants to marry longterm girlfriend Angelina Jolie soon, despite once declaring the couple would not wed until gay marriage is legalized in the US.

"We'd actually like to and it seems to mean more and more to our kids," the actor told The Hollywood Reporter. "We made this declaration some time ago that we weren't going to do it till everyone can. But I don't think we'll be able to hold out."

The 48-year-old movie star, who is up for Best Actor in this year's Oscars, said his change of heart was partly down to the couple's six children.

"It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot," he said. "And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment."

The actor did not disclose whether he had proposed to Jolie, 36, adding, "I'm not going to go any further."
But he reiterated his support for gay marriage, saying, "... to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous."
Pitt also did not rule out having more kids with his partner of seven years.
"We haven't closed the book on it," he told the magazine. "There's a really nice balance in the house right now, but if we see the need and get that lightning bolt that says, 'We can help this person; we could do something here,' then absolutely." Read more>>

911 Tape: Demi Moore “Convulsing” After She “Smoked Something”

Demi Moore’s trip to a Los Angeles hospital Monday night came after she smoked an unknown substance that caused her to have convulsions, according to the newly-released tape of the 911 call placed from her Los Angeles home. The female caller, who has not been identified, told the dispatcher that Moore smoked a substance similar to incense.

"She smoked something. It's not marijuana, but it's similar to it. It's similar to incense. She seems to be having convulsions of some sort,” the caller says.

“She's semi-conscious, barely. She's convulsing. She's shaking, convulsing, burning up,” the woman adds.

An unidentified man then gives directions to Moore’s house.

After the actress’s hospitalization, her rep released a statement saying she is entering treatment to improve her “overall health.” “Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends,” the rep said.

The 49-year-old’s health problems come two months after she announced her split from her husband of 6 years, Ashton Kutcher. "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life,” she said at the time. “This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation."

Hallmark Channel Eyes Marie Osmond for Daytime Show

Hallmark Channel is in negotiations with Marie Osmond to launch a show on its daytime lineup, a network spokesperson confirmed Thursday.

The channel said Osmond would host a lifestyle show, though it had no further details about the proposed format. She currently appears in a Las Vegas variety show with her brother Donny Osmond.

The news follows reports earlier this month that Hallmark would not renew daytime talker The Martha Stewart Show, with new episodes set to end in May and repeats running through the summer. That would leave a spot for Osmond's show to join the lineup in the fall, though the network spokesperson said the fall schedule has not yet been determined.

Hallmark also said it is still in discussions with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia about the company's other programs on the channel, Emeril's Table and Mad Hungry with Lucinda Scala Quinn.

The Martha Stewart Show debuted on Hallmark in September 2010 after years in broadcast syndication. The show's production expense and middling ratings were said to be a factor in the network's decision to seek other daytime programming options.

Madonna Working To Get Fit For Super Bowl

Madonna is "working hard" to be fit for her performance at the Super Bowl XLVI Half Time Show next month.

The 'Frozen' singer admitted she has suffered some minor injuries lately - including a pulled hamstring and a sore nose after hitting herself with a microphone - but is doing everything possible to ensure she gives the performance of a lifetime during the break in the showpiece NFL game.

She said: "I have a pulled hamstring and I have a little red dot on my nose where I wounded myself with my microphone.

"I'm going to dance and sing my butt off for the Super Bowl. I'm working so hard on it."

A source said: "When Madonna heard Gaga was in the frame, she knew she had to step up her efforts. She is going to deliver the kind of show never seen before in NFL history."

Other artists to have performed at the Super Bowl Half Time Show include Prince, U2, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, The Rolling Stones, Sir Paul McCartney, The Who and Janet Jackson - who caused controversy in 2004 when Justin Timberlake tore open her top to reveal her right breast during their duet.

Demi Moore Hospitalized

Newly single Demi Moore has entered treatment for exhaustion after being transported to a hospital by ambulance Monday night. The actress is seeking help with improving her “overall health,” according to her rep.

"Because of the stresses in her life right now, Demi has chosen to seek professional assistance to treat her exhaustion and improve her overall health. She looks forward to getting well and is grateful for the support of her family and friends,” Moore’s rep said in a statement.

TMZ reports Moore was hospitalized after a 911 call was placed from her Los Angeles home shortly before 11 p.m. Monday. Paramedics reportedly treated her at the scene for about 30 minutes before taking her to a nearby hospital. It is unclear what prompted the 911 call.

Meanwhile, Moore’s rep has confirmed the 49-year-old has dropped out of the upcoming Linda Lovelace biopic, Lovelace, in which she was supposed to play Gloria Steinem opposite Amanda Seyfried as the popular 70s porn star.
