Simon Cowell Stands Up For Britney Spears

Simon Cowell has come to Britney Spears' defense amid reports she has been walking off the set of The X Factor during auditions.

The music mogul recently unveiled Spears and singer/actress Demi Lovato as the new additions to the U.S. show's judging panel and the audition stages got underway with tryouts in Austin, Texas last week.

Reports suggested the Toxic hitmaker's first day as a judge ended in confusion when she abruptly left the room after a contestant butchered her song Hold It Against Me, but Spears has since laughed off the claims, insisting she was "just taking a little break."

Now Cowell and Lovato have poked fun at the allegations in a new video interview for The X Factor website, joking that it was the former Disney star who actually stormed off unexpectedly.

In the footage, Lovato adopts an English accent and says, "I was like, you know, tired of Simon, so I had to just, like, go."

Cowell then got serious to dismiss the speculation altogether, telling the interviewer: "There was no walking off. We have breaks every five or six songs. You can go have a cigarette, you can go to the loo (toilet). So as soon as anyone left their chairs, it was reported... that someone had left the show - and they hadn't!"

Spears and Lovato replaced Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul for the second season of the American version of the talent show.

Elvis Presley's Tomb Up For Auction

Fans of Elvis Presley can now follow the music legend into the grave when his original tomb goes on sale.

The A Little Less Conversation hitmaker was laid to rest inside a large underground chamber at the Forrest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, Tennessee following his death in August, 1977, but The King of Rock's remains were relocated two months later and reburied at his iconic Graceland home alongside his mother Gladys.

Now his original crypt is set to go under the hammer at an upcoming sale, according to TMZ.com.

Celebrity auctioneer Darren Julien will oversee the macabre lot and the winner will receive the tomb, opening and closing of the vault for burial, a memorial inscription and use of the chapel.

Bidding will commence on June 23rd as part of the Music Icons auction, which will see the sale of more than 600 items from the biggest stars in the industry, including Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra.

Say It isn't So!: Justin Bieber Wanted By The Police

Los Angeles County deputies want to question Justin Bieber after an alleged fight with a photographer.

The pop superstar reportedly became embroiled in a spat with the photographer outside a shopping center in Calabasas as the man attempted to take pictures of the singer and his girlfriend Selena Gomez.

A sheriff's deputy has revealed the photographer dialed 911 and was taken to hospital where he was treated and later released, before filing a police report.

Cops now want to talk to the star about the alleged incident, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Pictures show Bieber having lost a shoe and his baseball cap in the alleged scuffle, while Gomez is seen helping him retrieve the hat and put his sneaker back on.

Bieber has yet to comment on the report, simply writing in a post on his Twitter page, "Gonna focus on the important stuff. The music. (New single) Die In Your Arms hits iTunes in less than 24 hours."

The Baby hitmaker is due to fly to Norway this week to kick off a promotional tour for his new album.

Men In Black III Could Finally Topple 'The Avengers'

After three weeks of dominance, "The Avengers" could at last dip out of the top box office slot as "Men in Black III" launches at more than 4,000 theaters across the country. As "Men in Black III" battles "The Avengers" atop the charts, horror-thriller "Chernobyl Diaries" is also in position to scoop up some thrill seekers this weekend without any genre competition. Director Wes Anderson's highly buzzed about new film, "Moonrise Kingdom," will also get a limited release this weekend, though at only a few venues across the country it's unlikely to come near the top ten.

When "Men in Black II" hit theaters in the summer of 2002, expectations were high for the Sony/Columbia release, as Will Smith was at the peak of his popularity and the original "Men in Black" was one of the top grossing films of the late 1990s. But even with a built-in audience and a popular cast, "Men in Black II" struggled to meet lofty expectations, particularly in the U.S., where domestic revenue fell $60 million from the original. Even though "MIB II" ended up with more than $400 million worldwide, clearly the franchise was headed in the wrong direction.

Gregg Allman To Marry For Seventh Time

Gregg Allman is ready to tie the knot again. In a new interview on Piers Morgan Tonight, the Allman Brothers musician confirms he is set to marry his 24-year-old girlfriend Shannon Williams.

This will be Allman’s seventh marriage. He tells Piers Morgan that “this time I’m really in love.”

When asked how Shannon feels about being his seventh wife, Allman insists they don’t look at that way. "That's not what she's becoming. She's becoming wife number one. I don't have a wife, I haven't had one for years," the 64-year-old explains.

In other celebrity engagement news, actress Keira Knightley confirmed Friday she is engaged to Klaxons rocker James Righton. No other details were released. Knightley and Righton met last year through model and TV personality Alexa Chung. They began dating that February, just two months after Knightley ended her 5 year relationship with actor Rupert Friend.

Robert Pattinson Making Movie About Rock Legends

Twilight star Robert Pattinson has signed on to appear in an upcoming film project about The Band.

Few details are known about the movie, but the British actor reveals it will focus on the group's craft more than anything else.

In an interview with French magazine Les InRockuptibles, Pattinson is quoted as saying, "I'm going to do a movie about The Band, the one that played with (Bob) Dylan: a beautiful script about the nature of songwriting."

The Band was founded in the 1960s by the late Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Richard Manuel, Robbie Robertson and drummer Levon Helm, who lost his battle with throat cancer in April, and would regularly perform with folk icon Bob Dylan.

Grant Bowler Joins Elizabeth Taylor Biopic With Lindsay Lohan

Grant Bowler has reportedly signed on to appear alongside Lindsay Lohan in the upcoming Lifetime Network Elizabeth Taylor biopic "Liz & Dick." Bowler will co-star as Taylor's lover, Oscar winning Hollywood star Richard Burton. He is best known for his role as Cooter from "True Blood."

Executive producer Larry A. Thompson broke the news telling Deadline.com: "Grant will add gravitas to our couple and bring to life one of the greatest actors who has ever lived."

Memorial Day Weekend Movie Pick--Mighty Fine With Chazz Palminteri!

By Anne M. Raso
Andie MacDowell and Chazz Palminteri  as the troubled Fines in Mighty Fine; photo courtesy Adopt Films.
I've always thought that Chazz Palminteri should be a bigger star than he is. His self-penned A Bronx Tale--which he started off as a one-man play in NYC and LA--wound up being one of the great unsung mob movies even though Palminteri co-starred with Robert DeNiro in it. It was a non-union indie film, so that prob did not help but it sticks in my mind as not only one of the greatest mob movies of all time, but one of the greatest New York movies of all time...heck, it is #5 in my ALL TIME GREAT MOVIES LIST (let's be totally honest here) and I went to see Palminteri do it as a one man play on Broadway long after the film came out. So I did the whole A Bronx Tale thing in reverse order!

Anyway, on to CP's new film Mighty Fine just released on May 25th; it's a coming-of-age comedy-drama taken from the real life experiences of writer/director Debbie Goodstein-Rosenfeld. Set in 1974, this movie is a delight because not only do we get to see an array of "Brooklyn chic" fashions from the era (think of it as a slightly more edgy Brady Bunch look) but Palminteri plays the Joe, a New York garment factory owner who moves the whole operation down to the New Orleans area to increase his profit margin. Sadly, the garment workers laws changed around that time, and cheaper labor was found outside the country in places like China, so his whole operation goes on the skids. What's left to do but take out a loan from a local "connected" guy and then, ultimately (SPOILER WARNING) burn down the factory. Along the way, Joe has some severe spending issues--nothing is too good for his upwardly mobile family--but at the same time, he's got a hair trigger temper and often goes off the deep end, going as far as firing a rifle in the direction of local boys swimming naked in the family pool. We won't give away how Joe winds up at the end of the film, but let's just say that the family has enough of his uneven temper.

During the press day Palminteri told us that he thinks his character was suffering from chronic depression as well as generally being what psychologists now term a "rage-a-holic." He said, "It was the days before therapy was acceptable in society at least for men. I think therapy's a great thing. I've been in it myself for over 20 years and love it." Director Goodstein-Rosenfeld confessed, I didn't think of anyone else for the role except Chazz and I got in touch with him through his agent because he has an ominous quality but at the same time he is completely lovable. I needed someone who could embody that dichotomy." Goodstein says she needed to tell this very personal tale of her childhood because, "I wanted to highlight a man who had anger issues--and this goes on in a lot of people's home. When I screened this for friends and their friends, so many people came up to me and said, 'My home was like that.'"

Palminteri revealed at the end of the press day for Mighty Fine that he he fell in love with a role because "I love to do things that are the truth and i love to play characters with flaws." He's got a new project in the fire with none other than former collaborator Robert De Niro but he can't reveal any of the details just yet. I'm going to be the first in line to see that but in the mean time, I've got to say that Mighty Fine is Palminteri's greatest movie of the past ten years.

Britney Spears and Demi Lovato Enjoy First Day As X Factor Judges

Britney Spears and Demi Lovato’s first day as X Factor judges seems to be a success! The two pop stars took to Twitter Thursday to share their excitement over auditions in Austin, Texas with fellow judges Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid.

"Texas has a lot of talent - seriously! Loving @TheXFactorUSA auditions so far," Spears Tweeted.

She also slammed reports claiming she stormed off set because of a contestant’s rendition of her single “Hold It Against Me.” "Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!" she wrote.

As for Lovato, the Disney star said she had “an amazing day” and “can’t wait to do it again.”

Spears, 30, and Lovato, 19, replaced judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger. Abdul and Scherzinger were booted because of the lukewarm response to season 1 last year. "It's only because I opened my big mouth and said we were going to get 20 million [viewers]. If I hadn't said that, everybody would be saying the show was a huge success,” Cowell previously admitted.

Britney Spears, Demi Lovato Praised By Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger

Former "X Factor" judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger have remained pretty tight-lipped regarding the news that Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will replace them on the next season of the Fox show. Until now, that is.

This week, Abdul sat down with Wendy Williams on her talk show and had only the kindest things to say about both of those ladies.

"I think it's going to be great, and I'll tell you why. I think people are anticipating seeing Britney Spears. She's overcome a tremendous amount of adversity. And I'm always for the underdog coming back.

"She's a big star," Abdul said in footage posted on Perezhilton.com.

"And then there's a new budding star, Demi, with her music," she continued. "Her songs are great. She's riding a wave that's really exciting. It's a younger demo."Read more>>

Lady Gaga Insults Thai Fans

Lady Gaga infuriated fans in Thailand on Wednesday by inadvertently insulting the country's reputation with an off-color comment on Twitter.

The Bad Romance hitmaker kicked off her Born This Way Ball world tour in Asia last month and already she's facing backlash from officials in Indonesia, who want to ban her shows there over fears her planned stage routines are too racy for concertgoers.

And now the pop star has sparked new controversy after landing in Bangkok and taking to her social networking site to share her excitement about scouring the streets for bargain items, presumably a nod to the country's underground black market.

She wrote, "I just landed in Bangkok baby! Ready for 50,000 screaming Thai monsters. I wanna get lost in a lady market and buy fake Rolex (watches)."

Dozens of followers have since taken offense, with a few even planning to boycott her gig on Friday, and one fan responded, "We are more civilized than you think".

This marks the second time Gaga has made reference to fake and illegal designer goods in the region - while visiting Hong Kong, China last month, she wrote, "I love this city. You can work out & buy a fake Birkin (bag) on the same street."

Rocker Lou Reed Inspires Spider Name

A newly-discovered genus of spider has been named after rocker Lou Reed.

An international group of biologists recently stumbled across the never-before-seen velvet spiders, which live underground, and decided to use the former Velvet Underground frontman as inspiration when coming up with a name.

According to Sci-News.com, the arachnid, now called Loureedia annulipes, lives in Israel.

Reed now joins a select group of celebrities who have had spiders named in their honor - among them, Neil Young and Frank Zappa.

American Idol Winner To Undergo Surgery

American Idol winner Phillip Phillips' is undergoing surgery next week to address kidney problems that have dogged him throughout his stint on the TV talent show.

Phillips, who beat Jessica Sanchez to become the winner of the 11th season of the show on Wednesday night, was hospitalized shortly after making it to the finals - but fought through the pain and discomfort to compete.

He has now pulled out of a series of planned promotional appearances following his big win to undergo surgery.

He says, "I've been sick this whole show... It's been tough. I've had a lot of great people around me, great doctors. That helps out a lot.... (but) I'm ready to feel better, feel like myself."

Jim Parsons From 'The Big Bang Theory' Comes Out As Gay

Jim Parsons from "The Big Bang Theory" has admitted he is gay. The actor came out while being interviewed for a profile by the New York Times, which was centered on his performance on Broadway for "Harvey."

Parsons confirmed he's been in a long term relationship with Todd Spiewak for a decade. The "National Enquirer" tried to "out" Parsons in 2010 saying he was engaged to Spiewak.

Parsons plays the geeky character of Sheldon in "The Big Bang Theory." His role has earned him two Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe and a Critics' Choice Award. The series is going into its sixth season next fall. He has also appeared in "The Normal Heart," which is a drama about gay men dying of AIDS.

Jessica Sanchez “Content” With Second Place American Idol Finish

Jessica Sanchez may have lost the American Idol crown to Phillip Phillips, but the 16-year-old says she is content and harbors no regrets about her performance in the competition.

“No, I don't have any regrets at all. I mean, I made the top two. That's crazy, so I'm happy. I'm content,” Sanchez tells MTV in a new interview.

“When they announced that it was Phillip, I was so happy, and I knew it already. So, that's why I gave him a big hug. I was smiling the whole time. I was like, "This fool is gonna win, and I love him so much!" He deserved it. Literally, he has worked harder than all of us. We've all been working hard, but he's been having to keep up with his health issues with his kidneys, and I think he's been through it a lot more than us mentally and physically,” she says.

Sanchez hopes to get to work on an album as soon as possible. “We are really going to try to get on top of stuff as soon as we can,” she says.

“I wanna be more like the Rihanna kind of, Beyoncé kind of thing, but I don't want to compare myself to anybody, because I wanna be somebody new too,” Sanchez explains of her music style. “More like the urban, R&B kind of stuff but a little bit of pop — not straight pop like I did the other night.”

Elton John Rushed To Hospital, Forced To Cancel Shows

Elton John has been rushed to hospital in Los Angeles, with a serious respiratory infection, Tmz.com has reported. Elton was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital at around 6am yesterday (May 23, 2012) and has been forced to cancel four concerts in Las Vegas this weekend, as a result of the illness.

After performing a number of tests, doctors have ordered Elton to rest for at least seven days, meaning that he will be unable to perform at his 'Million Dollar Piano' concerts that he had planned. He was told that he needs "complete rest and antibiotic treatment to prevent damage." The 65 year old singer was apologetic, saying, "It feels strange not to be able to perform these 'Million Dollar Piano' concerts at the Colosseum ... I love performing the show and I will be thrilled when we return to the Colosseum in October to complete the 11 concerts." He added "All I can say to the fans is 'sorry I can't be with you.'" According to Tmz, it seems as though Elton has now been released from hospital.

This is the second time this year that Elton has had to cancel live performances. In February, the 'Rocket Man' singer was struck down with a bad case of food poisoning and was forced to pull out of two Las Vegas shows. Recently, Elton and his partner David Furnish revealed that they plan to have another baby; a little brother or sister to their son Zachary.

Patti Smith Blames Crew For Stage Plunge in '77

Punk icon Patti Smith blames stage-hands for the infamous 1977 accident which left her in traction with a broken back, insisting they failed to leave enough room for her to perform.

The singer took a tumble and plunged 15 feet (4.5 metres) into the orchestra pit during a gig supporting Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band in Tampa, Florida.

The incident left her with a fractured spine and broken vertebrae in her neck and required months of physiotherapy to enable Smith to recover - and she blames members of Seger's road crew for leaving her too little space on stage to perform.

Smith tells Uncut magazine, "There've been many rumours... 'Oh, she was stoned.' It wasn't like that. I was being careful on the stage because there wasn't as much room or light. I didn't whirl around as much as usual, but when I hit the monitor with my foot, it was half hanging over the lip of the stage.

"We needed more space and light, and we didn't get it, and I had an accident. Those are the practical aspects of it. It p**sed me off, and it wasn't very friendly, but it's nothing I'm gonna sue anybody over."

Smith also reveals she still suffers complications from the horrific accident 35 years on, adding, "I still suffer from it. My neck... I still get discomfort, spinal discomfort. It's nothing I can't live with."

'Great Gatsby' Trailer Released

An official trailer has been released for director Baz Luhrmann's upcoming adaptation of "The Great Gatsby" featuring Leonardo DiCaprio. The film also stars Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan and in the trailer Maguire shares dialogue over scenes of a lavish party in the roaring '20's. "New York, 1922," Maguire says. "The tempo of the city had changed sharply, the buildings were higher, the parties were bigger, the morals were looser and the liquor was cheaper. The restlessness approached hysteria."

Jay-Z and Kanye West's track "No Church in the Wild" is heard in the background as revelers shake the dance floor surrounded by balloons and confetti. A cover of U2's "Love is Blindness" by Jack White is also featured in the trailer.

'American Idol': Tonight's The Night: Will Jessica Sanchez Be The Big Winner?

The end is finally upon us. On Wednesday night (May 23), someone will be showered in confetti and ultimately crowned the 11th "American Idol" after going head-to-head in last night's final performances.

Will Jessica Sanchez take home the title, finally becoming the first female contestant since Jordan Sparks in 2007 to win? Or will it be Phillip Phillips, whose stage presence is so similar to the last few years' winners, apparently all he needs to do is make the ladies melt with that guitar and he'll be a shoo-in for first place. Regardless, not a lot of people can say they stuck it out this longRead more>>

Miley Cyrus Speaks About The Joy Of Sex

Miley Cyrus says that sex "is a beautiful thing" and shouldn't be used to measure one's worth.

While appearing on the Demi Moore-produced show, "The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet," the discussion turned toward the topic of teenage girls and sex.

"I was talking about this at dinner last night," Cyrus, 19, said. "The girls that really base how much they're worth on the sexual favors they can do for somebody, that makes me really sad.

"Because sex is actually really beautiful. It's the only way we create, and it's the only way the world keeps going," she added.

Cyrus, who is dating Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, said that she did not feel parents should be so nervous to talk to their kids about sex.

"It's ignorant not to talk to your kids about it or not make it seem as magical or cool as it actually is," the former tween star said.

"Kids have a TV, so they know what sex is. So educate them and let them know ... it's a beautiful thing, and it is magic, and it's when you connect with somebody. And it isn't how much you're worth. Your worth isn't based on that, your worth is based on how you feel about yourself."

The former Disney star has been hard at work sexing up her image as of late. On Sunday night, she appeared at the Billboard Music Awards wearing just a white tuxedo jacket. The ensemble not only showed off her yoga-toned legs, but also her cleavage. On Monday, the star was spotted pumping gas in a revealing cut-away top.

During the interview, de Cadenet asked Cyrus about her more grown-up appearance.

"[I'm] not sitting there trying to be sexy," Cyrus replied. "If people find you sexy, take it as a compliment ... It's just who I am. Thank you for thinking I'm sexy."

Bobbi Kristina Brown Investigated For Underage Gambling

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the only daughter of the late Whitney Houston, is at the center of an underage gambling investigation, Nevada authorities confirm. The Nevada Gaming Commission has confirmed it is looking in to whether the 19-year-old played slot machines at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas over the weekend. Footage appearing to show Brown playing the machines was posted on TMZ Monday. The teen was accompanied by her rumored boyfriend, 22-year-old Tyler Gordon.

A spokesman for MGM Resorts said the casino "will cooperate fully with the Gaming Control Board." Brown, who was in Las Vegas to participate in a tribute to her mother at the Billboard Music Awards, has not commented.

Under Nevada law underage gambling is a misdemeanor and is punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine. The gambling age is 21.

Phillip Phillips Wins American Idol-Recap

After a record breaking 132 million votes were tallied, Phillip Phillips earned the title of American Idol over fellow finalist Jessica Sanchez.

"This doesn't feel real," the 21-year-old told reporters backstage after the finale. "It's so unreal. It still hasn't sunk in yet. It's such a blessing. I have no idea why this happened. I just want to play music and I'm just a lucky guy."

As for why he became so emotional during his performance of his new single “Home,” Phillips said he was overwhelmed by his Idol journey. “I just started thinking about the whole journey and how far all of us have come, and how we've made it. It's so overwhelming,” he said.

"I hate crying, but I'll probably cry some more," Phillips added. "It feels good at times."

In addition to the title of American Idol, Phillips was awarded a Ford vehicle and a contract with 19 Recordings. He will participate in the Idol tour this summer.

As for Sanchez's feelings on her loss, she said she is "relieved" a winner has been chosen. "I'm kind of relieved that this whole thing is over, but I'm also going to miss everybody here. I really think that Phillip deserves to win and I'm so happy for him," she told reporters.

"Phillip has everything about him," Sanchez added. "He has his funny side and his humble side and he's just an amazing, original artist. I think we all are talented and I think we all are going to have really successful careers."

Priscilla Queen of The Desert Comes To An End on Broadway

Everyone from Hugh Jackman and Gloria Estefan to Gladys Knight and Micky Dolenz has visited the smash musical, “Priscilla Queen of the Desert,” during its first year on Broadway and earlier this week the Queen of Disco, Gloria “I Will Survive” Gaynor was seen at NY’s Palace Theatre dancing in the aisles. Her iconic anthem is performed twice during every performance of “Priscilla.”

Of the many triple threat performers in “Priscilla,” one that Gloria was particularly impressed with was Broadway hottie Nick Adams, who masterfully plays Adam and Felicia in the production. Prior to Priscilla, Adams was in “La Cage aux Folles” with Kelsey Grammer as well as Broadway runs of “A Chorus Line,” “Guys and Dolls” and “Chicago.”

Gloria’s “I Will Survive” was recently voted the # 1 Karaoke Song of All-Time and VH-1 chose it as # 1 on their countdown of the “100 Greatest Dance Songs of the 20th Century.”

Sadly, it was just announced that after 549 performances, the curtain will be coming down on Priscilla. The final performance will be Sunday, June 24th.

Perhaps more than any other recipient, with Shirley I would underline the word life in Life Achievement Award," he said. "Hers is a story more than just movies. It's an epic journey, and she has invited all of us to come along for the ride."

The stage will be transformed into an elegant ballroom to honor the expansive career of Shirley MacLaine.

Ryan Reynolds Eyed For Highlander

Ryan Reynolds is being targeted to appear in 'Highlander'.

The 'Safe House' actor is reportedly the frontrunner to take on the lead role in the forthcoming reboot, and though no formal offers have yet been made, sources tell Variety that both the actor and studio Lionsgate-Summit are ''very interested'' in working together on the project.

However, the insiders add that Ryan is also weighing up other offers and could instead pursue other projects.

Plot details for the movie are not yet known, but the original series - which began with a 1986 movie and had several sequels and a TV show - followed an immortal swordsman through the centuries as he battled other immortal warriors.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is to direct the movie with Neal Moritz and Peter Davis producing through Moritz's Original Film banner along with Enrique López Lavigne and Belen Atienza.

Ryan was last seen in 'Safe House', which has grossed over $120 million at the US box office and has not yet committed to any new projects since the success of the movie.

However his 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' character, Deadpool, is getting a spin-off movie, though it is not confirmed when work will begin on the project.

Dog The Bounty Hunter Canceled

"Dog the Bounty Hunter," A&E's long-running bounty hunting themed program has been canceled. The show finished last week after airing its eighth season.

The show was nearly canceled in its fifth season when Duane "Dog" Chapman's son, Tucker, sold a tape to National Enquirer, which featured his father repeatedly using the racial slur, "n****r."

Six months later A&E begun airing the show again.

In 2006, Chapman, his son Leland and partner Tim Chapman were arrested by federal authorities in connection with their adventure into Mexico to nab convicted rapist Andrew Luster.

The show got its start following Chapman's appearance on "Take This Job," which displayed various odd professions to viewers.

A&E did not offer an explanation for its decision to finally cancel the long running program.

Native American Tribe Formally Adopts Johnny Depp

Actor Johnny Depp has been formally inducted into the Comanche Nation as the newest member of the Native American tribe.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star has touted his unique ancestry over the last several years, recently revealing his great-grandmother was a Cherokee Indian.

And now, as Depp portrays Comanche Nation fictional character Tonto in a movie reboot of classic western TV series The Lone Ranger, organisation officials have invited the actor to embrace his family history and become an official member of the tribe.

LaDonna Harris, the president of Americans for Indian Opportunity, says, "Johnny is reprising the historic role of Tonto, and it seemed like a natural fit to officially welcome him into our Comanche family.

"I reached out, and Johnny was very receptive to the idea. He seemed proud to receive the invitation, and we were honoured that he so enthusiastically agreed."

The 48-year-old accepted the honour at Harris' home on Wednesday in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he is currently on location shooting the action-adventure film.

Depp, wearing ripped jeans and eyeliner, arrived bearing gifts as a customary sign of appreciation for the tribal elders and he subsequently took photographs with several members of his adopted family.

And Harris admits the group had a lovely time getting to know the movie icon, adding, "Welcoming Johnny into the family in the traditional way was so fitting. He's a very thoughtful human being, and throughout his life and career, he has exhibited traits that are aligned with the values and worldview that indigenous peoples share."

It's not the first time Depp has met with tribal officials while shooting The Lone Ranger - the actor took part in a summit with Navajo leaders on the set of the movie to make sure they were OK with him filming on sacred land.

Depp and co-star Armie Hammer held a meet-and-greet with Navajo Nation elders Ben Shelly and Rex Lee Jim in April and swapped gifts and posed for photos.

Shelly said, "He was respectful, along with very patient with picture taking. It was a great honour and privilege to meet Johnny Depp and we are honoured the movie is being filmed here on the Navajo Nation."

The disco diva lost her battle with lung cancer at her Florida home on Thursday at age 63, and now friends and family will pay their last respects to the I Feel Love hitmaker during an invitation-only event at a church in Nashville on Wednesday.

About 1,000 guests are expected to attend, according to TMZ.com.

Camille Grammer Not Leaving Real Housewives

It turns out Camille Grammer is not leaving The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The 43-year-old is returning for the upcoming third season, but her camera time will be limited.

"I will be a part of production again. I guess it was something I couldn't let go of. I really enjoy being with the women and working with the producers. They're like my extended dysfunctional family,” Grammer told E! News.

In March sources told People magazine Grammer decided to leave the show because she did not want to “expose her personal life anymore.” The reality star split from husband Kelsey Grammer in 2010 and their divorce was finalized earlier this year. She is now dating Dimitri Charalambopoulos.

"He's going to bring me to his family home in Greece," Grammer told E! News of Charalambopoulos. "We were talking about two or three weeks. Travel the Greek islands together, meet his family and cousins."

'House' Closes Its Doors: But How Did It End?

The Hugh Laurie -starring 'House' drew to a close last night (May 21, 2012), with many fearing that this most excellent of hospital dramas would have an ending as grim as much of its subject matter over the previous eight seasons. The penultimate episode had left off with Gregory House facing jail, whilst his soul mate Dr. James Wilson had less than five months to live after a battle with cancer. Not looking good then.

However, as E! Online reports, the writers behind the program gave us a darn fine twist and a happy ending after all, albeit a typical 'House'-esque one which saw happiness found amidst a larger backdrop of probable doom. At first it seemed like House was dead, after being identified in a burning building and even having a funeral take place in his memory. It was all a ruse though! And as Wilson read out a touching eulogy for the doctor, he received a text telling him to shut up and calling him an idiot. Vintage House!

So, yeah, turns out that Laurie's character had merely faked his own death, after first considering suicide, and sought to escape so that he could spend the last of Wilson's days with him, rather than ending up in choky. Heart-warming. As such the final scene was of the pair riding off into the sunset on motorcycles, providing a wonderfully fitting end - and though House would surely be in a whole heap of trouble upon his return, that's not for any of us to know about.

Fox's House To Conclude This Week

Fox's long-running medical drama "House" will come to close this week after eight seasons. The show is led by Hugh Laurie, who plays the harsh tongued Dr. Gregory House, and Laurie says he's satisfied with the show's success.

"I feel a huge satisfaction that we got to the end with our dignity intact," he tells the Washington Post. "I never felt that we did anything that wasn't true to the character or the show — like, 'House gets a puppy.' I think that's quite an achievement."

Laurie adds that the main character's harsh personality was what ultimately set the show apart:

"Traditionally in an American drama, the damaged, sarcastic cynic would be a peripheral character," Laurie adds. "To make someone so apparently jagged and unsympathetic into the central character was a very bold step. And so was clinging to that premise, never relenting to suggest that, underneath it all, he has a heart of gold. I'm not sure that House does have a heart of gold. He is on the side of the angels, but that doesn't mean that he's an angel."

The show concludes with a one-hour retrospective on Monday at 8 p.m. followed immediately by the series finale.

Splash
Katy Perry debuted her latest track, "Wide Awake," on Sunday, May 20 at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards.

The song is the latest single from her Teenage Dream: the Complete Confection album, and was written for her upcoming film Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D.

Perry, speaking with MTV, says that the track was intended to have appeared on the original version of Teenage Dream, but was pushed onto the deluxe edition:

"Well, there were two songs that I had fromTeenage Dream that I couldn't put on, it was 'Part of Me' and 'Dressing Up.' And then I knew we were doing the re-release and so I was like, 'I got to get in the studio,' because I can't wait eight months to be able to put out this feeling that I'm feeling right now, 'cause God knows it would take eight months to do another record."

Boy George Going On Tour Again

The 80's pop star is confirming he and Culture Club will reunite for a tour once he is allowed back in the U.S. following his 2005 drugs arrest.

The band planned to reunite and hit the road last year to mark the Karma Chameleon hitmakers' 30th anniversary, but the trek never materialized.

Now frontman Boy George insists the group wants to kick off the jaunt in America, but he will only be able to work in the United States when authorities allow him back into the country. He was famously arrested in New York in 2005 when police discovered cocaine in his apartment after he falsely reported a burglary. He was sentenced to five days community service and fined.

The singer tells Britain's Daily Express, "(The reunion) is definitely going to happen, probably next year. We've written stuff and been in the studio. But we want to start in America and at the moment I'm not allowed in America so I'm waiting to get my visa.

"Our original producer Steve Levine is working with us. It's gone full circle and we have all the original members which is really great."

Bono Shoots Down Billionaire Reports Following Facebook Flotation

U2 rocker Bono has shut down rumours he is set to become one of the richest rockers in the world after Facebook.com's flotation on the stock exchange.

The social networking site became one of the US stock market's largest ever flotations, with the site eventually being valued at £66 billion, more than McDonalds and Amazon.com, when trading closed on Friday.

Bono was rumoured to overtake Sir Paul McCartney in the money stakes thanks to his 2.3 per cent stake in the site which his investment group snapped up for £57 million in 2009.

It was believed the deal would net him around £949 million, outstripping McCartney's reported fortune of £632 million, but the superstar insists the Beatles legend is still the richest man in music.

He tells MSNBC, "Contrary to reports, I'm not a billionaire or going to be richer than any Beatle - and not just in the sense of money, by the way, the Beatles are untouchable - those billionaire reports are a joke."
