Katy Perry Rides Closer to 50 Million Mark on Twitter

Katy Perry was on the threshold Thursday of becoming the first person ever to have more than 50 million followers on Twitter.

Twitter Counter, a service for tracking Twitter usage, predicted that Perry, 29, whose "Dark Horse" featuring Juicy J is atop this week's Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, would roar through the 50 million barrier sometime Friday.

On Thursday, her @katyperry account claimed 49,989,780 followers.

"Crazy, isn't it?" said Twitter Counter in an email, adding that Perry -- who tweets regularly to her fans, but follows only 130 people herself -- "never really shared her Twitter milestones."

Jerry Seinfeld Clears Up Seinfeld Reunion Reports

Comic Jerry Seinfeld has confirmed plans to reunite his former Seinfeld co-stars for a "special project".

The star sparked rumors of a much-anticipate get together earlier this month when he was spotted shooting a Super Bowl commercial with Jason Alexander and Larry David at New York City's Tom's Restaurant, which doubled as the diner from the hit show.

Seinfeld refused to offer an explanation for the reunion, prompting many to speculate the trio was filming a Super Bowl ad.

The comedian has now revealed there will be no commercial, adding, "It's a secret project." But he confesses the Seinfeld cast will be back for the "one-and-done" project, adding it will be out "very, very soon".

Bruno Mars on Super Bowl Performance: 'The Microphone Turns into a Popsicle'

Singer-songwriter Bruno Mars will perform at the Super Bowl half time show this coming weekend and admitted that practising for his set has been painful because of the low temperatures.

The hitmaker is set to be headlining the annual halftime show on Sunday, February 2, and he told MTV News that rehearsing for the performance in the state of New Jersey has been trying because it's just so cold there at the moment:

"The microphone turns into a popsicle and all these things you don''t really think about going into it."

He also opened up about having picked Red Hot Chili Peppers to play at the show too, adding: "I've been a fan of theirs for such a long time, I admire their career. They're a soulful band and not just musically, but as people... It's an honour to be sharing a stage with them. They're one of my personal favourite bands of all time."

Katy Perry Tops The Billboard Hot 100

Following her spellbinding performance of "Dark Horse" on this year's Grammy Awards, Katy Perry locks in her 9th Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 with the song as Billboard announced earlier today. Katy's other Hot 100 champs are: "I Kissed a Girl" (2008), "California Gurls" feat. Snoop Dogg, "Teenage Dream," "Firework" (2010), "E.T.," featuring Kanye West, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)" (2011), "Part of Me" (2012) and "Roar" (2013). As of this week, Katy becomes the only artist to have risen to No. 1 in each year of the current decade.

"This #1 is the most unexpected one I've ever had," states Katy. "Dark Horse" has been a dark horse of a song, since August when the KatyCats voted to release it early on iTunes, before PRISM even came out. I'm so thrilled and grateful to have these moments."

Up next Katy is starting rehearsals for her major Prismatic World Tour, which begins in Britain on May 7, before coming to North America on June 22 for four months. Tickets for the North American arena dates went on sale this Monday, and due to overwhelming public demand the 46 shows have become 62. Katy will be touring in support of Prism, which debuted at number 1 on The Billboard 200 and remains in the Top Ten three months after release. The platinum album also features the Grammy nominated single "Roar" which has now sold over 9 million downloads around the world.

Justin Bieber Deportation Petition Reaches 100,000 Signatures

The petition to deport hellraising pop star Justin Bieber has reached 100,000 signatures, making the project an official White House affair.

Critics of the troubled Canadian pop star launched the initiative last week, following Bieber's DUI arrest in Florida on Thursday.

It first appeared on Whitehouse.org with the message: "We the people of the United States feel that we are being wrongly represented in the world of pop culture. We would like to see the dangerous, reckless, destructive, and drug abusing Justin Bieber deported and his green card revoked.

"He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nation's youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society."

The campaign has topped 100,000 signatures in less than a week, which means White House staff must now review it and send it to policy experts.

The White House petition is not the only campaign that has been launched following his arrest - 17 additional petitions calling for the same action have appeared online.

Classic ALICE COOPER Album 'Billion Dollar Babies' To Be Released On Hybrid SACD

Please follow TMW on Twitter and  M.A. Cassata on Facebook.

Marshall Blonstein's Audio Fidelity is releasing Alice Cooper's classic album Billion Dollar Babies on Hybrid SACD on February 4, 2014! As a bonus, along with the meticulously reproduced artwork, enclosed in every CD is the very collectible replicated Billion Dollar Bill.

With Billion Dollar Babies, Alice Cooper refined the raw grit of their earlier work in favor of a slightly more polished sound resulting in a mega-hit album that reached the top of the US and UK album charts. It’s impossible to overstate how popular the band had become by the time their sixth album was released. The album, is brilliant, decadent and encapsulated all the celebrity trashiness of the 70's only three years into the decade.

Song for song, Billion Dollar Babies is probably the original Alice Cooper group's finest and strongest. The album's singles “Elected,” “Hello Hooray,” “Billion Dollar Babies” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy” all became hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Also included are a pair of perennial concert standards - the disturbing necrophilia ditty “I Love the Dead” and the chilling macabre of “Sick Things.”

After the album was released, the band embarked on a tour which broke the US box office records previously held by the Rolling Stones. The show climaxed with a guillotine execution of Alice. The album and the tour made the band into the world's preeminent pied pipers of teenage trash culture and the most successful rock band ever to be loathed by American parents.

1. Hello Hooray
2. Raped and Freezin'
3. Elected
4. Billion Dollar Babies
5. Unfinished Sweet
6. No More Mr. Nice Guy
7. Generation Landslide
8. Sick Things
9. Mary-Ann
10. I Love the Dead

Miley Cyrus and Madonna team up for Cyrus' 'Unplugged' special.  Cyrus says her song "We Can't Stop" is like an update of Madonna's 2000 hit song "Don't Tell Me" — so it only makes sense that the singer enlists the help of the pop icon in performing the two songs for her MTV "Unplugged" special.

"A lot of what she represented for me is a lot of what I try to represent to girls now," Miley, 21, adds.

"Not being afraid of sexuality, and really being who you want to be and doing what you want to do … 'Don't Tell Me' is basically the same message as what I'm telling my fans in 'We Can't stop.'"
