One Direction and Jennifer Lawrence Dominate Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2014

One Direction and Jennifer Lawrence were the toast of the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday, but skipped getting slimed by not showing up.

The boyband stars, who also led the charge at last year's prizegiving, were named winners of two top awards - Favorite Music Group and Favorite Song for Story Of My Life.

Meanwhile, in the movie categories, Lawrence picked up Favorite Movie Actress and Favorite Female Buttkicker for her turn as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The film was also named Favorite Movie.

Selena Gomez was on hand to claim her prize for Favorite Female Singer, and grew emotional as she collected the ceremony's blimp-themed trophy.

She said, "Thank you so much. This has been such an amazing year already for me and I just have to say that you guys have been the most loyal, dedicated people in my life, because you continuously, every year, bless me with the opportunity to do what I love, so thank you so much. You guys are awesome, and this is for you. So, thank you."

Justin Timberlake, another no-show, was named Favorite Male Singer, while Adam Sandler collected his prize for Favorite Movie Actor.

As usual, some celebrities weren't so lucky, and instead of walking away with awards, sloped off the stage covered in the event's famous green gunge. Host Mark Wahlberg, Kaley Cuoco and Cody Simpson were among the slimed stars.

The full list of winners at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards is:

Disney's Frozen Becomes Highest-Grossing Animated Film Ever

This weekend, Disney’s “Frozen” officially became the highest grossing animated film of all time, and with $1,072.4 million worldwide, it has also entered the list of the top 10 biggest films of all time. The Walt Disney Studios’ seventh billion-dollar release, “Frozen” has earned an estimated $398.4 million at the domestic box office and $674 million internationally.

“Frozen” is the first billion-dollar film for Walt Disney Animation Studios and its first film to receive the Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature. “Frozen” opened wide domestically on November 27, 2013, posting the #1 all-time Thanksgiving debut ($93.6M five-day, $67.4M three-day) and Walt Disney Animation Studios’ biggest opening ever. It remained in the top 10 films at the domestic box office for 16 consecutive weeks, the longest run by any film since 2002.

Internationally, “Frozen” is the biggest Disney or Pixar animated film of all time in 27 territories, including Russia, China, and Brazil. In Korea, where the film has grossed an estimated $77.1 million, “Frozen” was #1 for the first five weeks of release and is the biggest animated film, the second biggest non-local film, and Disney’s biggest release of all time. It’s also the highest-grossing animated film of all time in Denmark and Venezuela. Since its debut March 14 in Japan, “Frozen” has claimed the #1 spot in its first three weekends and continues to play strongly with an estimated $50.5 million to date.

Released on digital February 25 and on disc March 18, “Frozen” is the fastest-selling digital release ever and sold over 3.2 million Blu-ray/DVD units in its first day, putting it on track to be one of the biggest home entertainment sellers in a decade.

The Platinum-certified “Frozen” soundtrack returned to the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 album chart last week for a seventh time with more than 1.6 million copies and over 5 million individual tracks sold. The album has also held the #1 position for five nonconsecutive weeks at Spotify and is approaching 110 million streams worldwide. The Oscar®-winning song “Let It Go” has sold over 2.6 million copies, and the film clip of the song has been viewed over 160 million times on YouTube.

8 Favorite Supporting Muppet Characters We Can't Do Without

Are you person or a muppet? It doesn't really matter as long as you're a fan! Our  friend  and fellow entertainment journalist, Lucille Barilla  compiled this  fun and informative "8 Favorite Supporting Muppet Characters We Can't Do Without" piece for the super entertainment site, Starpulse. Check it out and let us know what you think.

With over fifty years in the public's consciousness, Jim Henson's Muppets are a guilty pleasure. How many of us can admit to having one, two or more pieces of Muppet memorabilia growing up, or even today as adults? The Muppets bring us back to a time in our childhood when we believed that puppets could talk, when life was a little simpler and when it was okay to laugh at a slapstick joke without worrying about it being politically correct. Sure everyone is aware of Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and other major Muppet players, but what about their supporting cast? Lead actors (or puppets as the case may be) are only as good as those who back them up. So here, in no particular order, are some of our favorite supporting Muppet characters.

1. Fozzie Bear

Everyone's favorite sidekick brings the laughs just when things become a bit too serious for Kermit and company. With his signature "wocka wocka wocka" ad-lib, Fozzie Bear was the perfect comic foil for Kermit the Frog. In fact, Fozzie and Kermit have been paired together in movies, books, and television specials. Fozzie always defers to Kermit and responds to his instructions by saying, "Yes sir." Fozzie is known for his brown pork pie hat and red-and-white polka-dot necktie and for being the only "stand-up" bear in the Muppet family.

2. The Swedish Chef

He has never spoken more than a word of audible English, but he certainly knows how to bring on the laughs! The Swedish Chef is a parody of television cooking celebrities, and can usually be found wearing a toque blanche with bushy eyebrows that cover his eyes. The Swedish Chef's skits always began with his preparation of a recipe and an explanation of his actions that require English subtitles! He frequently finds uses for unconventional kitchen tools, such as fireworks, tennis rackets and electric drills to finish his dishes. The Swedish Chef was one of the few Muppets use an actual puppeteer's hands. The hands were visible to the audience, as the puppeteer would place his own arms through the puppet's sleeves.

New Official Prince George Photo With Prince William and Kate

Long awaited -- and oh, so worth it! Ahead of their Australian/New Zealand tour, Kate Middleton and Prince William released a new family photograph with their son Prince George on Saturday, March 29. The charming and stunning snapshot of their 8-month-old baby boy is the first portrait of the three since his christening back in October 2013.

The latest portrait, taken mid-March, shows the Duke, 31, and the Duchess, 32, perched near their windowsill at their home, Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace, with their son. Looking happy and typically flawless, Middleton holds onto her boy as he peers up at their dog Lupo, which Prince William has his arm wrapped around. Prince George is beyond adorable with his much longer locks, as he dons a cloud blue-colored sweater with "George" written across the front of it.

Lady Gaga Declares Herself 'Twitter Queen'

Modern pop icon Lady Gaga has revealed that she first joined social networking site Twitter six years ago so she deserves to be known as its rightful Queen.

Writing on her official page earlier today (March 27), the 'Venus' beauty explained that she can't believe she has been a member for such a long time and because of her commitment to Twitter she should be named as ruler:

"I became a TwitterUser exactly 6yrs ago. Was one of the 1st! Luv to all my followers from the original Twitter queen."

At the moment, Gaga has a total of 41.1 million followers on the site and recently changed her tagline to read: "Spreading love with every invention, forever devoted to the kingdom of monsters."

Meanwhile, she has just released the highly anticipated music video for her new single 'G.U.Y.' and told Sirius XM that it's a metaphor for her own life: "The video is a journey... written like a visual story. But it is sort of a metaphor for my life and the many things I've been through. It's indicative of how disorientated I feel in my experience of pop culture and the pedestals we put people on. I'm snapped back into reality with the water and reality television."

Tattoo Experts Critique Justin Bieber's Growing Ink Collection

Rocky Rakovic, editor-in-chief of Inked magazine, has given his opinion ofsome of Justin Bieber's tattoos and revealed that his lower right arm is a mess of typical 'first tattoos' dotted around the skin.

Speaking to MTV News about the ink that the 'As Long As You Love Me' heartthrob has on his right arm, Rocky explained that they're all generic designs and nothing really stands out:

"I'm a big believer (Belieber?) in that one can do as they please with their body, but Bieber just went and filled out his lower right arm with a tattoo starter kit. Let's examine his choices of left forearm body art: Spade, Banksy girl, video game figure, pool 8-ball. Those are five of the top 10 tattoos gotten by people getting their first tattoos."

Matty No Times of New York's illustrious Three Kings Tattoo also opened up about some of Bieber's work and praised a couple of his designs: "The knight and the castle are really nicely done. They are drawn well and executed well. The shading is smooth, there are varying line weights, which create shape and shadow in the armor of the king. This is a nice tattoo."

No Times added that he also likes the detail of the eye Bieber got to honour his mother, Pattie Mallette: "The eye is a great tattoo, also. It is very detailed and realistic."

Dancing With the Stars Has Double Elimination

Displayed with permission from Toronto Star

The renovated Dancing With the Stars, without band leader Harold Wheeler, started with selfies, flashbacks and rehearsals.

This week, the pros got to choose their own dances. The opening number had huge production values, i.e. Maksim Chmerkovskiy wearing running shoes, dancers hanging around the judges’ table. The contestants in the opening number were doing a great job. Mandy Moore choreographed this party.

There was a double elimination tonight based on last week’s scores and votes. The audience wasn’t happy with this. Said host Tom Bergeron, “It’s like an ugly mob, suddenly.”

Drew Carey and Cheryl Burke were declared safe, but they performed first, a jive.

They were dancing to “You Can’t Sit Down” and there was lots of energy, and matching blue costumes.

Bergeron said, “You are dancing with the energy of someone who is safe.”

Judge Len Goodman said there was lots of jive content. “Fun to watch. See you next week.”

“You are so in tune with what the public wants,” said Bruno Tonioli. Carrie Ann Inaba pointed out a “few little mistakes.”

Their scores was three 7’s.

Billy Dee Williams was declared safe. “The force is strong with him,” said Bergeron.

Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were declared safe. So were Danica McKellar and little brother Val Chmerkovskiy.

Danica and Val danced the samba. Val said he wanted standing ovations and rehearsals were very intense. There was a spangly, teensy dress on Danica and they were doing great samba rolls. Val had an open shirt (of course).

The music was very fast for samba. It was Val’s birthday.

Bruno said the transitions weren’t finished properly. Carrie Ann said, “You dominated that samba. I thought you were flawless.” Added Len, “You just keeping doing what you’re doing.” They got three 8’s.

Billy Dee and Emma Slater had the tango. “I look like an old man trying to be a young person,” he complained. Emma brought in two pals to spice up the routine.

The theme song from Peter Gunn lent a certain killer note to the dance, which was slow. However, the audience went insane.

“I don’t want you to get discouraged,” Carrie Ann said. “It didn’t have enough attack,” said Len. Bruno told Billy Dee to continue having fun. Score: 5, 5, 5.

Meryl and Maks had the swing dance. Meryl got thrown around a lot in rehearsal.

They started up in the celebriquarium and then ran downstairs. There were tons of jumps and we got to see lots of crinoline and underpants, but it was all tasteful.

Len gave the new band a compliment. As for the dance, “That swing had wings.” “It was so difficult,” said Bruno, pointing out Meryl missed steps a few times. “You had Maks working his butt off,” said Carrie Ann. Meryl’s athleticism was praised. Score: 8, 9 (Len), 8.

Amy Purdy and Derek Hough were safe as were Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas.

But swimmer Diana Nyad and Henry Byalikov were going home right away. “Don’t I even get to do my dance?” she asked.

Diane applauded the spirit of the show and called Henry “elegant and brilliant,” so they let them dance.

Candace and Mark chose the rumba (the dance of love) and Mark told Candace to “own your hotness.”

She said it would be sensual, emotional and not raunchy.

They were both in black and it was sensual and emotional. Mark had choreographed a tasteful rumba that still had a vicious head swing.

Carrie Ann said it was a little too contemporary while Len said, “Your arms have to be as expressive as your face.”

“You really dance from your heart,” said Bruno. Score: triple 7’s.

Amy and Derek had the swing dance. This could be difficult; the double amputee’s prosthetic legs could fly off when she’s dancing.

Sometimes I have no idea what they are doing down there, she said of her feet, but it was perky, not pathetic.

There were lots of lifts and twirls and she looked like she was having ball. It ended with the splits and, good news, her legs stayed put.

“You’re amazing, well done,” said Len. “A knockout,” said Bruno. Carrie Ann loved it too. Score: 8, 8, 8.

James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd, and Charlie White and Sharna Burgess were safe.

They were all in white with Peta in a pretty skimpy sort-of-bikini, but they did a fast-paced song ending with a giant Peta-twirl in their salsa. James won the hunk of the season award.

“You’ve come out of your shell and you have the abs to prove it,” Bruno said. Carrie Ann declared James had joined the hall of fame of sexy dance. Len told him to “ease off the gas.” Score: 9, 8, 8.

Charlie White and Sharna Burgess tangoed. Charlie has to be the ultimate bad boy and he has a long-time girlfriend. Trying to be a little James Bond, Charlie was in a black tux and Sharna in a see-through ball gown while they danced to “Addicted to You.” The audience was on its feet.

“You had command of the dance,” said Carrie Ann. “It’s a terrific number, but you can’t break hold,” said Len.

Bruno, of course, loves Charlie when he is bad. Score: 9, 7 (Len), 9.

NeNe Leakes and Tony Dovolani had the jive. She blamed her husband for picking the dance, which was full of energy, most of it pink. And NeNe was wearing flats, which made it hard to see the flicks and kicks.

Len said she is so much fun. Bruno said it was great entertainment. Carrie Ann got all technical about her arms and Tony rallied to her defence. Score: 7, 7, 7.

Sean Avery and Karina Smirnoff had the salsa. Rehearsal footage showed that he was irked at all the smiling.

He showed some fancy footwork while Karina rocked a canary yellow fringy outfit. He was in a boring black sweater and pants like he might be watching TV later, or getting some takeout.

Bruno wanted more smiles and for him to “get those hips going.” Carrie Ann said he is so “authentic.” Len said all you have to do is each week, get higher marks. Score: 7, 7, 7.

Cody Simpson and Whitney Carson had the tango. Cody can’t have his pants sagging, but he likes them down around his knees, apparently. They were beautiful in matching white outfits and high pompadours. Very age appropriate bar dance music.

“I love the way you stylized things,” Carrie Ann said.

“Anyone who can fit a moonwalk into a tango has my respect,” said Len. “I really liked what I saw,” said Bruno.

Cody wanted to make his parents proud, dancing the tango, which his parents did at their wedding.

In the end, Sean Avery joined Diane Nyad in the double elimination.

NEW TWIST: Fans get to swap pros and celebrities with votes this week, so this should make things different. The next episode airs Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC. (In Canada, episodes don’t air until Saturday at 8 p.m. on CTV Two.)

Lady Gaga Explains 'G.U.Y.' Video: "It is sort of a metaphor for my life"

Lady Gaga has explained the thinking behind her new video.

The singer recently unleashed an eleven minute promo clip for her upcoming single 'G.U.Y.'.

It took six days to shoot and Gaga told Sirius XM that she wanted the video to act as a "journey".

However, she added that the clip reflects her own experiences and transition in life.

Gaga said: "The video is a journey... written like a visual story. But it is sort of a metaphor for my life and the many things I've been through. It's indicative of how disorientated I feel in my experience of pop culture and the pedestals we put people on. I'm snapped back into reality with the water and reality television."

She added: "There are some really artistic images and some really pop ones. I think the trick is to watch it a few times and you'll catch something different each time. It's ok to be confused because the intention was there for to be a hallucinogenic quality when you're watching it, like pop culture acid. There is a method to my madness but truly I just want everyone to enjoy it."

Lady Gaga's Boyfriend in Charge of Relationship

Lady Gaga says Taylor Kinney is in ''totally in charge'' of their relationship.

The 'G.U.Y.' singer has been dating the 'Trauma' actor since they met on the video for her song 'You and I' in 2011, but while Gaga is known for being in control of every aspect of her career, she likes him to take charge at home.

She said: ''He is totally in charge. I mean when I am home I am like, shoes are off, I'm making him dinner. He has a job too and he is really busy.

''I'm in charge all day long, so the last thing I want to do is tell him what to do. It's not good for relationships to tell each other what to do.''

Taylor, 32, has previously said his relationship with Gaga, 27, is successful because they have opposing personalities.

He said: ''I'm reserved. She's not. For whatever reason, it works. It works and that's that.''

He has also talked about settling down and says he wants to have children.

He said: ''I do want to give Mom grandchildren, of course. I think I'd be a good dad, it would be a pleasure. I'd love it - and I'm in my 30s now.

''My mum wants me to get married, and have children of course.

''She's met Gaga, we've been dating a while, we're in a committed relationship and I'm really happy in my relationship. I'm a very lucky guy.''

Rolling Stones Set to Play First Ever Show in Israel

The Rolling Stones have booked their first ever show in Israel.

The rockers recently axed a tour of Australia and New Zealand following the death of Mick Jagger's fashion designer girlfriend L'Wren Scott.

The band have now bounced back by adding a number of new shows to the upcoming European tour, including dates in Norway and Portugal in May, Switzerland and Denmark in June, as well as a huge gig in Tel Aviv, Israel on June 4.

The promoter behind the Israel show, Shuki Weiss, confirmed the news on Tuesday and hailed The Rolling Stones' visit as a huge step forward.

Weiss tells the Times of Israel, "This is a historic moment. It's a huge honor to bring the Rolling Stones to Israel, an honor for the country, the citizens, and mostly for the fans who have waited for this moment... This is emotional, even for me, and I've been doing this a long time."
