Lady Gaga Outfit Sells For over $15,000 at Auction

An outfit worn by Lady Gaga in a photoshoot has sold for more than $15,000 (£8,917) at auction.

A metallic bodysuit costume designed by threeASFOUR for the singer's 2014 Harper's Bazaar shoot was sold at Nate D. Sanders Auctions in Los Angeles.

The outfit eventually reached a total price of $15,625 (£9,289).

The item was a 'beige coloured bodysuit with stainless steel triangular sequins and stainless steel laser cut arm and calf pieces'.

Gaga was auctioning off pieces from the photoshoot to raise money for her Born This Way Foundation.

Some of his finest work has been documenting Bruce Springsteen during the career-defining period of his 1978 album Darkness on the Edge of Town and its 1980 follow-up The River. Photos from that fateful New Jersey session have graced the cover of numerous Springsteen albums, including Darkness on the Edge of Town, The River and The Essential Bruce Springsteen.Bruce Springsteen says: "Frank always shot your internal life. He let your external imperfections show. His photos had a purity and poetry."

For Stefanko's gallery appearance, MHG will be offering an exclusive, limited edition portfolio of Stefanko's Bruce Plaid Shirt Portfolio. The photo package will include eight 8x10" signed photos and be limited to 25 setsof Stefanko's image-defining photography of Bruce Springsteen, featured on the albums, The River andDarkness on the Edge of Town. Stefanko's love affair with cameras and pictures dates back 50 years. In the mid-1960s, it was his friendship and photography of a young, emerging Patti Smith, which led Frank to an introduction and lasting friendship with Bruce Springsteen that has stretched over 30 years. In addition to his Springsteen books, Stefanko has published Patti Smith: American Artist (Insight Editions). Stefanko's portfolio includes vintage and contemporary photographs of Patti Smith, The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Janis Joplin, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Bette Midler, and Johnny Winters, among others.

For more Miley on TMW, go here!

Miley Cyrus has broken her silence following her recent hospital stay by phoning into Ryan Seacrest's radio show on Monday to assure fans she's "doing good".

The pop star was admitted to a medical center in Kansas City, Missouri on April 15 after suffering a bad reaction to medication she had been taking for a sinus infection. She was reportedly discharged last week and now she insists she's ready to get back on the road and pick up her Bangerz tour in Europe after postponing a string of shows in North America.

Cyrus told Seacrest, "I'm doing good, much better."

Explaining what put her in the hospital, the singer added, "Basically I had gotten sick while I was on the road. On the sixth day, I just woke up... it was so scary... I had basically been poisoning myself with something I didn't know I was really scary allergic to."

She spent one night in the hospital and then tried to resume her tour, only to fall ill again.

Miley sought further treatment and was told she would have to spend an extended period of time in hospital.

She added, "It was insane. I was begging the doctors, 'Let me out to go do the show!'

"I was crying because I was so bored. I'm laying here hooked to all these machines. Every two hours, some woman comes in and pokes me with a needle, just miserable... I'm just laying here with nothing to do... I ended up doing some online shopping."

The pop star has confirmed her European tour will begin as scheduled on Friday. She has also added dates to her rescheduled North American trek, which will resume on August 1 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York and wrap up in Chicago, Illinois on August 14.

Paul Simon and Edie Brickell Arrested For Disorderly Conduct

Paul Simon and Edie Brickell were arrested in New Canaan, CT on Saturday evening for disorderly conduct.

The couple were first under suspicion of a domestic dispute after police responded to their home on Saturday at 8:20 PM. According to the NY Daily News, the incident started with an argument and a shoving match before Brickell's mother called the police.

During the arraignment, both told the judge that there is no danger in their being together and that the fight was atypical of their relationship. Simon said "We’re going to go home and watch our son play baseball. ... Neither of us has any fear, or any reason to be threatened."

Brickell agreed, saying "He’s no threat to me at all."

The couple's lawyer, Allan Cramer, said that the couple had a disagreement which Simon did not want to discuss. Brickell blocked Simon from leaving which led to the altercation. Cramer said "Brickell is from Texas and he is from Queens, and you know they have different ways of dealing with issues. I was talking to her and she said, ‘We’d been married for 25 years and we've had maybe three or four arguments’."

Brickell and Simon have been married since 1992 and have three sons, aged 16 to 20. Simon has recently toured with Sting while Brickell has been working with Steve Martin on albums and a Broadway show.

Wolverine Will Face His Death in Upcoming Comic

April 25, 2014
Posted with permission from UPI.com

Wolverine will face his doom in upcoming Marvel comic, Death of Wolverine.
The landmark issue will be preceded by a "3 Months to Die" storyline this summer. The plot finds Wolverine stripped of his accelerated power to heal, and will culminate in a four-issue Death of Wolverine finale in September.

"For a long time, no matter who Wolverine was battling, he's been the eternal victor," Marvel editor Michael Marts tells Entertainment Weekly. "He almost always comes out on top. Now he finally comes up against an adversary that he cannot win against, he cannot fight. What does that mean for this character who's been around for a hundred years?"

Wolverine debuted in The Incredible Hulk #180 in 1974. The character possesses healing capabilities that allow him to recover from virtually any wound, and also slow down the aging process. He is a member of mutant superhero team the X-Men, and is well-known for his adamantium skeleton and claws.

"He's reflecting on his own life as he's reflecting on his own death," author Charles Soule says of the four-issue finale. "We wanted to have the reader do that at the same time. In each issue, we're focusing on a different aspect, or a different quintessential Wolverine."
"Wolverine being Wolverine, violence tends to find him," he continues. "I hope that when people finish it, they'll feel like he died in a way that was true to him."

Marts adds that Marvel has approached Death of Wolverine "from a standpoint of finality, of closure." It appears that the character's death will remain final.

"You're gonna be entering into a world without Wolverine," Marts says. "That affects not only his teammates, but also the Marvel Universe at large. We've got a lot of things in the works already."
The first issue of Death of Wolverine will be released on September 3.

John Lennon's Fireman Coat Up For Auction

Please follow TMW on Twitter and M.A. Cassata on  Facebook.

A fireman-style jacket once owned by John Lennon is to go on sale at auction.

The blue coat is believed to be the same garment the iconic musician sported on the back cover of his and Yoko Ono's 1969 album Unfinished Music No. 2: Life with the Lions.

Lennon left it on a coat hook at pal Jon Hendricks' home in New York City in 1978, and Hendricks then gave it to a friend, Andrew B. Harvey.

No estimated sale price has been given for the item but previous jackets belonging to the Beatles legend have fetched up to $200,000.

Harvey's certificate of authenticity states, "This British fireman's coat once belonged to John Lennon. It was given to me in 1978 by Jon Hendricks, my (then) common-law wife's uncle. Brothers Jon and Jeff Hendricks... were involved in the art movement known as 'fluxism' as was Yoko Ono. Through this they got to know the Lennons in the early seventies...

"In 1978 we went to stay with Jon for a few weeks. He told me the fireman's coat hanging in the hall had been left there by John Lennon when he'd called in a few months earlier. I think that was the last time he saw John Lennon... Jon asked me if I wanted the coat, as I was off on a cross-country hitch-hikingtrip and I didn't have one. I wore it through a couple of hard years. It may well be the coat that John Lennon is wearing on the back of the British album release (I think) as 'Life With The Lions' - unless he had several of them. The picture shows John and Yoko surrounded by British policemen, after John's drug bust."

The coat, which features epaulettes and silver-colored metal buttons, goes up for auction online via Nate D. Sanders on April 29.

Amazon Bringing A Slew Of HBO Classics Like 'The Sopranos' And 'Deadwood' To Prime Streaming Service

Amazon.com announced a new deal with HBO that will bring several of the pay-TV network's shows to the company's Prime streaming video service.

The online marketplace will add unlimited streaming of past series like The Sopranos, Deadwood, Rome and The Wire along with select seasons of shows like True Blood and Boardwalk Empire.

The exclusive deal will make available seasons of HBO shows that are at least three years old and also includes a wealth of other material such as miniseries ("Band of Brothers," "John Adams"), original movies ("Too Big To Fail," "You Don't Know Jack"), documentaries, comedy specials and more.

For newer shows, fans will still have to subscribe to HBO, which also offers its own streaming service, "HBO GO," which gives paying subscribers the ability to stream any HBO shows or specials.

Unfortunately fans of "Entourage," "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Sex and the City" will have to wait until other deals the pay-net signed with basic cable networks to air those shows expire.

And, naturally, HBO's current flagship "Game Of Thrones" won't be available on Prime.

HBO's content for Amazon Prime, which makes that recent $20 annual increase for the service worth it, will be available starting May 21.

The travel writer and conservationist, the brother of Charles' wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was admitted to a medical center in critical condition on Tuesday night after slipping and smacking his head on the pavement outside The Diamond Horseshoe nightclub, where the 62 year old was attending a party following a charity auction hosted by bosses at Sotheby's.

Jersey Boy Donnie Kehr Reprises Gangster Role in Clint Eastwood's' Big Screen Movie

“Making the movie was easy, because I had 8 years to rehearse it on stage,” says Broadway-journeyman actor Donnie Kehr, who reprises his role as gangster ‘Norm Waxman’ in Clint Eastwood’s movie of the play Jersey Boys, coming out June 20.

Kehr, who’s appeared in such Broadway productions as Billy Elliot: The Musical; The Who’s Tommy; and, The Mystery of Edwin Drood; created the role of ‘Gyp De Carlo’ (2004) in the groundbreaking La Jolla Playhouse production of Jersey Boys and was the first to play ‘Norm Waxman’ in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production.

Now essaying ‘Waxman’ on screen, Donnie is the only star from the original La Jolla production to play a major role in the film, which also stars Christopher Walken (as “DeCarlo”) and John Lloyd Young (“Frankie Valli”) from the Broadway production.

“It's like a dream to go to work when you are greeted by Clint Eastwood and Chris Walken. I am still in shock and in awe of how cool they were. I had bruises because I pinched myself like 20 times to make sure it was real and not a dream.”

Donnie also created the role of “1st Pinball Lad” in the Broadway production of The Who’s Tommy for Director Des McAnuff and rock legend Pete Townshend. This collaboration with Townsend led to “Rockers On Broadway,” an innovative fundraiser that celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013.

Rockers has become a much-anticipated annual event, earning more than $300,000 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, The Broadway Foundation and other nonprofits that support arts education.

'Super Duper Alice Cooper' and the Birth of Shock Rock—(Video)

He paved the way for some of biggest rock bands in history, but before there were groups like Motley Crue or Metallica there was the one and only Alice Cooper.

“I was a journalism major,” Alice Cooper said. “And I realized that more people would rather read The [National] Enquirer than The New York Times.”

Whether this statement is true or not, you’ll have to decide for yourself. But Vincent Furnier, better known to the world as Alice Cooper, used this insight as the marketing strategy for his band.

Yes, before Alice Cooper was a guy, it was a band, which included bassist Dennis Dunaway, drummer Neal Smith and guitarist Michael Bruce. The story of how Vincent Furnier became the man we know as Alice Cooper is revealed in Super Duper Alice Cooper, the documentary about his life, band and career that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival this week. Dunaway and Smith both participated in the film, while Bruce did not. “Mike has always been hard to find, like Izzy Stradlin,” Alice said.

Check out this cool interview with Alice at Radio.com

Super Duper Alice Cooper, which also features commentary from Elton John, Iggy Pop and Dee Snider, will be screened in over 250 theaters beginning April 30.

TMW Exclusive: Micky Dolenz Adds Audience Q&A Solo Show Next Month

When Monkee, Micky Dolenz (and one of our favorite personalities here at TMW) performs his solo show next month at the famed Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois (May 2), he'll feature a new component to it: A Q&A session with the entire audience following the show.

Inspired in part by a lengthy Q&A that Dolenz participated in during last month’s Monkee-Con event in New Jersey (that was received extremely well),Dolenz says he’s added it as a way to say thank you to all the fans.

Added Dolenz, “It was a terrific event at the Monkee-Con as the Q&A session covered questions about my whole career; from the TV-show of course, to my most recent solo album Remember and the Live At B. B. King’s recording. Andrew Sandoval from Rhino moderated it and did just an exemplary job.”

Promoter Ron Onesti added, “I’ve done several shows with Micky previously, but adding this Q&A was a brilliant masterstroke. His stories and anecdotes about the songs and the different personalities he’s come into contact with all are truly special. It definitely gives the audience a peak behind-the-curtain."

Mickey Rooney Laid to Rest

Actor Mickey Rooney has been laid to rest at a private funeral in California.

Family and friends of the Breakfast at Tiffany's star bid farewell to the beloved actor at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Saturday, following a memorial service on Friday.

The funeral comes a week after Rooney's conservator and attorney Michael Augustine, and Rooney's estranged wife, Janice Rooney, debated on where to hold the send-off. The two parties eventually settled on the popular site, where other Hollywood legends are buried.

Rooney died at the age of 93 earlier this month.
